At the meeting, Ms. Pham Xuan Binh, deputy director of the Department of Education and Training of Kien Giang province, apologized to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Chung and his family.
"I apologize to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Chung because former Director of the Provincial Department of Education and Training, Nguyen Thi Minh Giang, provided information to the press before the conclusion of his wrongdoing," Ms. Binh said.
Apologies for providing the information to the press prematurely.
Meanwhile, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Giang - former director of the Department of Education and Training of Kien Giang province - said that the case of Mr. Nguyen Dinh Chung has dragged on for 7 years, causing a lot of distress to the staff at the department.
She retired five years ago but still feels uneasy seeing her colleagues from the office constantly going to court during that time.
She apologized for not resolving the matter completely before her retirement, causing great hardship for her colleagues who had to attend court hearings dozens of times, wasting a lot of their time.

According to Mr. Chung, whether something is said before or after, if it's wrong, it's wrong according to the rules that party members are not allowed to break. However, compared to the law, there's no such thing as saying something beforehand that's wrong. The law stipulates that slander is wrong, defamation is wrong, and exaggeration is wrong, but no law states that saying something beforehand is wrong.
"Therefore, for nearly five years, the District 12 court (Ho Chi Minh City) has not issued any ruling stating that I was wrong. If today the court decides to require me to publicly apologize to Mr. Chung for having revealed his wrongdoings before the conclusion of the competent authority, then I will publicly apologize to Mr. Chung," Ms. Giang said.
On May 16th, the People's Court of District 12, Ho Chi Minh City, signed a decision regarding "Recognizing the agreement of the parties."
Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training of Kien Giang province agreed to the plaintiff Nguyen Dinh Chung's request. The Department of Education and Training of Kien Giang province will hold a public apology meeting for Mr. Chung at Vo Van Kiet Junior and Senior High School.
Previously, Ms. Giang, former director of the Department of Education and Training of Kien Giang province, provided information to the press before the competent authority concluded that Mr. Chung had committed violations.
We will request corrections and removal of 3 articles.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Chung said he thanked the leaders of the Provincial Department of Education and Training for organizing the public announcement of the apology after nearly 7 years of seeking justice.
"My aim is to clarify the justice I have served, a career I have dedicated myself wholeheartedly to in education. I encountered a professional setback in August 2017."
"Today, everything is basically clear, and I accept the apology from the Provincial Department of Education and Training and Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Giang, even though the apology is too late," Mr. Chung said.
Soon, his family will petition the leadership of a newspaper to remove three articles that contained false information and to issue a public correction in accordance with the law.
The principal has resigned, so he can't handle it.
Regarding the above matter, a representative from the Kien Giang Provincial Department of Education and Training stated that in 2017, the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee conducted an inspection of the finances and assets at Vo Van Kiet Secondary and High School, but no conclusions were reached.
The then-director of the department, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Giang, provided some information about Mr. Chung's wrongdoings to the press before the conclusion was reached. "After that, Mr. Chung resigned and left the Party. Therefore, even if there were violations, nothing could be done," this person said.
