Diep Son Island (Van Phong Bay, Van Ninh District, Khanh Hoa Province ) is located more than 60km from the center of Nha Trang city, equivalent to a 70-80 minute drive by car.
In recent years, Diep Son Island has become a popular tourist destination thanks to its pristine beauty, clear blue waters, and fine white sand, often referred to as the "Vietnamese version of the Maldives". From above, the Diep Son island cluster resembles a reclining Buddha, hence the local name, Reclining Buddha Island.
Here lies a rare and hard-to-find white sand path, appearing and disappearing amidst the vast ocean, known as the "Diep Son Waterway." This path connects Hon Bip, Hon Qua, and Hon O islands. On sunny days, with crystal-clear water, visitors can even admire schools of fish swimming or coral reefs.

According to Duc Tung Travel, a tour operator with many years of experience on Diep Son Island, June to September each year is the peak tourist season. The sandy path is a highlight, attracting tourists to the island. This path is over 1km long, with some sections only a little over 1m wide, creating a thrilling experience for visitors.
"Normally, from the 1st to the 15th of the lunar month, the path appears after 12:30 PM until evening, when the tide rises. Towards the end of the month, the path appears later, around 4:30 PM," Tùng said.
"If you visit Diep Son Island during the last days of the lunar month, it's not easy to admire this sand path. Because, if you go on a day tour, the group has to leave the island and return to the port before 5 PM," he added. From October to December each year is the rainy and stormy season, so it's not an ideal time to visit the island.

When the tide rises, the road is submerged under the sea. At night, if the weather is good, visitors can admire the road glowing thanks to the seaweed beneath.
From Nha Trang, tourists can choose a day tour to Diep Son Island or a 2-day, 1-night tour. With the all-inclusive day tour, visitors will be picked up from the city center and taken to Van Gia port, then by speedboat to Diep Son. The speedboat ride takes about 15 minutes. On the island, visitors can explore, have lunch, paddleboard, swim, experience the sandy path... and return before 5 PM. The tour cost is approximately 550,000 VND per person.
With a 2-day, 1-night tour, visitors will have more time to experience walking on the sandy paths, watching the sunset and sunrise on the island, and visiting nearby islets. The tour cost is 1.1 million VND per person. The number of homestays here is still quite limited, but this contributes to a peaceful atmosphere for visitors.
Tourists can also combine a visit to Phu Yen and Diep Son Island with their itinerary.

Currently, there aren't many tourism businesses operating in Diep Son. The companies offering tours to Diep Son Island focus on protecting the landscape and preserving the island's pristine beauty. The island has only about 100 households, who have lived off the sea for generations and still maintain many interesting traditional customs and cultural practices.
In the northern region, a sand road "emerging" in the middle of the sea has also appeared in Thanh Lan, Co To, Quang Ninh. Amidst the clear blue seawater, the road emerges in a shape likened to a giant humpback whale. The road is about 300m long and about 20m wide. The sand on the road is yellow, fine, and slopes gradually on both sides.
