Completely different training program

The training course for referees and referees for the 2024-2025 national professional football tournaments in the northern region was held at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF). Previously, on August 12, the referee supervisors had a session to review experience, evaluate professional work after the 2023-2024 season and take a comprehensive test.

The training session is divided into 2 sessions, of which the first session is held in the northern region from August 12 to August 17 and the second session is held in the southern region from August 25 to August 30. The division of training areas is to optimize the travel and living conditions for the referee supervisors and referees. At the same time, it also helps to optimize the time fund for the most effective training.

Notably, the training program before the 2024 - 2025 professional football season is significantly different from previous times. The training course has increased in time, with the study program developed in detail by the professional department, closely following real-life issues and developments.

Many important contents such as changes and additions to football laws, focusing on analyzing issues related to monitoring and managing matches. In addition, contents related to VAR operation, managing matches when VAR is available are also of interest, preparing towards the goal of applying VAR in all matches of the national championship.

VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and contributions of the supervisory and refereeing teams to the overall success of the 2023-2024 national professional football tournaments. He emphasized that VFF and Vietnam Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) will continue to create favorable conditions to support the supervisory and refereeing teams to better fulfill their roles and tasks in the coming season.

VFF and VPF aim to apply VAR in 100% of matches in the National Championship. This will help ensure accuracy and support referees in their operations. At the same time, training courses on VAR technology are also organized so that referees, assistant referees and technicians can master how to use it. However, despite the support of VAR, the referee is still the one who makes the final decision on the field. Therefore, it is extremely necessary to cultivate and improve the professional qualifications of supervisors and referees.

100% of northern referees and assistant referees are physically fit and ready for the 2024 - 2025 season

Also on the afternoon of August 13, VFF referees and assistant referees attended a pre-season training course. At the end of the test, 100% of referees and assistant referees completed the test without any errors.

Completing the physical fitness test is a prerequisite for the referee and assistant referee team to be able to participate in officiating matches in the Vietnamese football league system. In this training session, 50 referees and assistant referees must pass physical fitness tests according to FIFA assessment standards, including 2 parts: speed and endurance.

After completing the physical test, the northern referee and assistant referee team will continue to participate in a training course that will last until August 18 with many important contents. Some related contents such as changes and additions in football laws, focusing on analyzing issues related to monitoring and managing matches, and VAR will continue to be deployed.
