On the afternoon of August 5, at the National Assembly House, Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Chinese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam Hung Ba, who came to pay his respects as he prepared to end his term as Ambassador in Vietnam, according to the National Assembly Office. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his pleasure in receiving Ambassador Hung Ba at the National Assembly House, before the Ambassador prepared to return home, ending his term of office in Vietnam. On behalf of the Party, State, National Assembly and people of Vietnam, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man sincerely thanked the Chinese leaders for their special feelings and warm comradely affection for the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. The National Assembly Chairman said that on the day General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passed away, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China sent a message of condolences to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam. General Secretary and President Xi Jinping was the first foreign leader to pay his respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the Vietnamese Embassy in Beijing. Member of the Politburo Standing Committee, Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Wang Huning, as the Special Representative of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, visited Vietnam to attend the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that these actions demonstrated the special respect of the Party, State and people of China and the special feelings of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping personally for the relationship between the two Parties, the two countries and for the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong personally. Emphasizing that Vietnam and China are close neighbors, and that the people of the two countries have a long-standing tradition of friendship, the National Assembly Chairman said that the two countries have similar political regimes and are on the path of socialism under the leadership of the Communist Party. Vietnam always remembers the great, wholehearted and righteous support of the Party, State and people of fraternal China in the past struggle for national independence and reunification as well as in the cause of national construction and development today. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that developing relations with China has always been a consistent policy, a strategic choice, and a top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, and diversification.
