At the conference, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and delegates observed a minute of silence to commemorate the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, an outstanding communist soldier who devoted his whole life to the country and the people.

Speaking at the conference, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man welcomed the fact that the People's Representative Newspaper has regularly organized the National Collaborator Conference for the past 17 years and this year chose a very practical topic: "The role of the press in the activities of the National Assembly and People's Councils" to exchange, discuss and share experiences to continuously improve the quality of information and propaganda about the activities of the National Assembly and People's Councils.

Thereby, the People's Representative Newspaper continues to develop further, truly becoming a "bridge", strengthening the close connection between the National Assembly, the People's Council with voters, people nationwide, overseas Vietnamese and international friends, meeting the requirements of strengthening the great national unity bloc, consensus in overcoming difficulties, actively building and developing the country in the period of innovation and peak integration.

The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated and commended the remarkable results that the People's Representative Newspaper has achieved in more than 35 years of operation. In particular, since the beginning of the 15th National Assembly term, the newspaper has proactively innovated comprehensively, improved the quality of propaganda on digital platforms, expanded the scope of dissemination, conveyed content with focus and key points, deeply connected the activities of the National Assembly and People's Councils, contributing to strongly promoting the spirit of innovation, drastic action, effectiveness and efficiency of the National Assembly.

Emphasizing that in order to meet the new requirements of the country and the demands of practical life, the National Assembly has been proactively, "early" and "from afar", improving the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of its operations, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man suggested that the People's Representative Newspaper must innovate more strongly and substantially in the direction of becoming increasingly synchronous, professional, modern and effective.

With the main motto of “policy communication”, the People’s Representative Newspaper needs to provide readers with complete, timely, truthful and objective information on the activities of the National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels; discover and encourage the replication of advanced models, good, creative and effective practices; strongly arouse patriotism and the aspiration to build and defend the Fatherland.

In particular, the newspaper further strengthens social criticism so that the National Assembly and People's Councils have more multi-dimensional information, helping the decision-making and supervision process of policies and decisions related to the rapid and sustainable development of the country and protecting the legitimate and legal interests of the people.

The National Assembly Chairman suggested that leaders of provinces and cities should pay more attention to information and propaganda work on local newspapers along with propaganda on central news agencies and newspapers, directly the People's Representative newspaper, to help local authorities share, learn experiences, and improve operational skills.

According to Editor-in-Chief of the People's Representative Newspaper Pham Thi Thanh Huyen, 2024 is a special year as the People's Representative Newspaper marks 15 years of upgrading and changing its name from the People's Representative Newspaper.

Editor-in-Chief Pham Thi Thanh Huyen also expressed her hope that this conference will be an opportunity for professional journalists and collaborators, experts, and elected representatives to meet, exchange, and share good practices, creativity, and valuable experiences, thereby contributing their voices to debate, discover obstacles, “bottlenecks,” discuss, and find effective solutions to continue promoting the important “bridge” role of the press and media for the activities of the National Assembly and the People’s Council. The purpose is to create understanding, trust, and consensus among voters and people for the decisions of the government in general and of state power agencies in particular.
