The Czech Republic's largest left-wing newspaper Nase Pravda published an editorial on April 10 titled " Czech Republic-Vietnam Relations: Economic and Diplomatic Highlights ."

The article believes that the upgrading of Czech-Vietnamese relations will create many opportunities for Czech businesses to invest in this Southeast Asian country, as the Vietnamese economy will continue to be a bright spot in the Asia-Pacific region in 2025.

The article stated that despite many negative changes in the world situation, in 2024, Vietnam achieved great successes in terms of economy, society and diplomacy.

Despite the general difficult context of the world and regional economy, Vietnam's economy has recovered significantly, with economic growth estimated at more than 7%, twice as high as the global economic growth rate.

The newspaper assessed that a strong recovery in 2024 will create a solid foundation for Vietnam's growth this year. In 2025, the Vietnamese National Assembly set a GDP growth target of 6.5% - 7%, while the Government set a target of exceeding 8%, a desirable figure for many other countries.

Regarding diplomacy, foreign affairs activities in 2024 also helped raise Vietnam's position in the international arena. Vietnamese leaders made 21 visits to countries and attended major multilateral conferences; welcomed 25 delegations of foreign leaders to visit Vietnam. This, on the one hand, demonstrates the dynamism and proactiveness of Vietnam's foreign affairs and diplomacy, and on the other hand, shows the importance that countries attach to Vietnam's value and geostrategic role and the desire to promote deeper relations with Vietnam.

The article argues that in a year of global turmoil, Vietnam has not only maintained an admirable economic growth rate, but under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the country's position has been increasingly elevated in the region and the world.

Regarding the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and the Czech Republic, the editorial highly appreciated the prospects of the relationship between the two countries in 2025, especially when the two countries agreed to upgrade their diplomatic relations to a Strategic Partnership during the visit of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to the Czech Republic in January 2025. This also shows that Vietnam values its relationship with the Czech Republic and really wants Czech businesses to come and invest.

Notably, at the business forum between the two countries held on the occasion of the recent upgrading of relations, delegates said that Vietnam and the Czech Republic are two complementary economies.

The Vietnamese Prime Minister welcomed the investment of Sev.en Global Investments Group in Mong Duong 2 Thermal Power Plant, Skoda's automobile factory project in Quang Ninh, and called on other businesses to promote connections and cooperation to increase infrastructure investment, especially green infrastructure, energy infrastructure, etc.; invest in emerging industries, science and technology, innovation and digital transformation.

The article also quoted Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's statement that Vietnam is promoting the ratification of the Vietnam-EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) to facilitate investment between the two countries, increasing Czech enterprises' investment capital in Vietnam to 2-3 billion USD in the next 5 years.

The article believes that a good start to diplomatic relations in 2025 will bring great economic benefits to businesses of the two countries.

The article stated that 2025 is the year Vietnam celebrates the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations with the Czech Republic and Eastern European countries as well as many other important events such as the 50th anniversary of national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025). The Communist Party of Vietnam is also placing high political determination in implementing administrative reforms, building a stable and peaceful country, and preparing for the 14th National Congress scheduled to take place in early 2026.

In particular, with Vietnam's decision to apply short-term visa exemption for Czech citizens within the framework of the Vietnam Tourism Stimulus Program in 2025, this year will be a great time for Czech tourists to explore Vietnam, a beautiful, peace-loving country./.
