Recently, the AFF (Asian Football Confederation) has planned to change the timing of the 2024 ASEAN Cup. To help Southeast Asian clubs compete effectively in the AFC Champions League, AFC Cup, and AFC Cup, the AFF intends to postpone the start date of the 2024 ASEAN Cup from November 23rd to December 9th. Consequently, the tournament's final date will also be postponed from December 21st, 2024 to January 5th, 2025.

Therefore, the Vietnamese national team will also make adjustments to its training plan for the ASEAN Cup 2024. Instead of training and playing friendly matches during the FIFA Days in November (November 10-18), coach Kim Sang Sik and his team will start training from November 21.
During the FIFA Days in November, the Vietnamese national team will not play, making way for two rounds of the V-League 2024/2025 to allow clubs to avoid a high frequency of matches in the following period.
Although they won't be playing in the November FIFA Days, the Vietnamese national team will still have four other friendly matches in September and October, so coach Kim Sang Sik and his team will essentially still have the best possible preparation for the 2024 ASEAN Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. In addition, during the 18-day training camp before the 2024 ASEAN Cup, the Vietnamese national team is expected to play several international friendly matches.
