DNVN - The Ministry of Industry and Trade has directed the General Department of Market Management to inspect 4 key traders and 20 distribution traders suspected of violations in order to consider handling them according to regulations.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thuy Hien, Deputy Director of the Domestic Market Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), in the first half of 2024, in implementing state management regulations on petroleum business, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued a decision to inspect the maintenance of petroleum business conditions of 6 primary petroleum traders and 8 distribution traders. The inspection is currently underway.
In addition, after reviewing reports on maintaining business conditions, the Ministry directed the General Department of Market Management to inspect 4 key traders and 20 distributors suspected of violations for consideration and handling according to regulations.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade assessed that, in the first six months of the year, most businesses complied with legal regulations on petroleum trading, reporting on maintaining and changing distribution systems, reporting on production, import, export, and inventory, reporting on the price stabilization fund, and declaring selling prices... periodically as required and on an ad hoc basis as requested by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. However, some businesses still did not proactively report, requiring the Ministry to remind them.

According to Ms. Hien, every year, in accordance with regulations on state management in the petroleum business, the Ministry regularly plans to inspect the maintenance of business conditions by petroleum traders.
"The Ministry of Industry and Trade will have a plan to inspect all petroleum wholesalers and distributors, regardless of size. This inspection is unrelated to and will not affect the total domestic petroleum supply," the Deputy Director of the Domestic Market Department emphasized.
In 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Trade allocated a minimum total of over 28,437,000 m3/tons of various types of petroleum products to 36 key petroleum trading companies.
According to reports from two refineries and the General Department of Customs, in the first six months of 2024, the total production and import of petroleum products reached 12.41 million tons, equivalent to approximately 15.2 million cubic meters/tons of various types of petroleum products. Of this, imports accounted for 44.5%, and domestic production accounted for 55.5%.
According to reports from petroleum wholesalers, total imports and domestic purchases in the first six months of 2024 reached 13.8 million cubic meters/tons of various petroleum products, equivalent to 48% of the minimum supply allocated by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, a decrease of 0.28% compared to the first six months of 2023.
Consumption in the first half of 2024 was approximately 13.2 million cubic meters/tons. Inventory as of June 30th of this year was approximately 1.85 million cubic meters/tons, equivalent to the first half of last year.
Forecasts for domestic petroleum supply in the last six months of 2024 indicate total production and imports of approximately 12.76 million tons, equivalent to about 15.3 million cubic meters/tons. According to reports from traders, total production and imports for the last six months of 2024 are estimated at around 13.3 million cubic meters/tons of various petroleum products. Estimated consumption for the last six months of 2024 is approximately 13.2 million cubic meters/tons (an average of nearly 2.2 million cubic meters/tons per month). Inventory is projected at 1.8 - 2 million tons.
Thus, the supply of gasoline and diesel will be sufficient to meet the needs of the people and manufacturing businesses.
