On the morning of August 7th, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the results of the supplementary admissions for 10th grade in public schools for the 2024-2025 school year. This supplementary admissions aim to ensure that students who failed to get into any of their three preferred schools due to various reasons such as inappropriate choices or incorrect preferences, but who had high exam scores, can continue their studies at public schools in the city.

According to Mr. Le Hoai Nam, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, for the 2024-2025 school year, the Department has applied a regional priority mechanism for students in junior high schools in suburban districts such as Cu Chi, Nha Be, Can Gio, Hoc Mon, Binh Chanh, and Thu Duc City. Candidates applying to high schools in the same area as these junior high schools will be considered as their first choice.
Specifically, candidates applying for supplementary admission to high schools in the same area as this junior high school will be considered based on the cutoff score of their first choice.
The application of regional priority has brought several advantages to candidates and high schools, such as ensuring that candidates from disadvantaged suburban areas can continue their studies at public high schools; and helping high schools in suburban areas recruit enough students to meet their assigned quotas.
After high schools announce the list of candidates admitted through the supplementary admissions process, from August 7th to 4 PM on August 12th, the schools will organize the admission of these successful candidates.
