Regarding trade, in 2023, the UAE was Vietnam's largest export market and its second largest trading partner (after Kuwait) in West Asia. Between 2019 and 2023, total trade between the two countries averaged approximately US$4.8 billion per year. In terms of the trade balance, Vietnam consistently maintained a significant trade surplus with the UAE (over US$3 billion per year).
In the first six months of 2024, total bilateral trade reached over US$3.2 billion, a 43% increase compared to the same period in 2023; of which Vietnam's exports reached over US$2.8 billion, a 47% increase, and imports reached over US$435 million, a 25% increase.
In terms of commodity structure, Vietnam's main exports to the UAE include: mobile phones, machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts, computers and components, footwear, textiles, transport vehicles and parts, agricultural products (cashew nuts, pepper, fruits and vegetables, rice)... Vietnam's main imports from the UAE include: other petroleum products, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), raw plastics, animal feed and raw materials, base metals, chemicals...
