MICE stands for Meeting Incentive Convention Exhibition, or tourism combined with conferences, seminars, incentives, exhibitions, or event organization. MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tour groups are large, often numbering in the hundreds or even thousands, and spend more than regular tour groups. MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) is not a new type of tourism product and is being promoted by many countries because it offers much higher value than individual or group tourism. |
The number of South Korean tourists visiting Vietnam reached 3.6 million in 2023, while the number of Vietnamese tourists visiting South Korea has continuously increased after Covid-19, surpassing 420,000 in 2023, making it the largest and most important market in Southeast Asia.
If the growth momentum continues, tourism exchange between the two countries is expected to surpass 5 million visitors for the first time since the opening of the border. In particular, Vietnam is a key market for MICE tourism for South Korea.
According to the South Korean Consul General in Da Nang, Kang Boosung, the central region of Vietnam, centered around Da Nang city, is a key area for people-to-people exchanges and tourism between South Korea and Vietnam. In 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic, approximately 1.7 million South Koreans visited the area.
As of the end of June 2024, with tourism demand recovering, approximately 23 direct flights between Da Nang and South Korea were operating daily, and more than 780,000 South Korean citizens had visited the city in the first half of 2024 alone.
Within the framework of the event, representatives of the Korea Tourism Organization in Vietnam introduced MICE tourism, along with Korea's strengths and advantages in this potential tourism sector; attractive destinations, unique culture and cuisine, and exciting experiential activities...
At the same time, the report introduces support policies for travel agencies and businesses bringing MICE tourists to South Korea.
