The Supreme Court of Justice of Venezuela (TSJ) declared that the opposition parties – which supported presidential candidate Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia – failed to produce any evidence or records relating to fraud in the July 28 election.

The TSJ also stated that despite receiving a summons, Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia did not appear in court. The TSJ began hearings on July 7-8 for all 10 candidates who participated in the recent presidential election to expedite the process of the court certifying the official results of the election.
Previously, on August 2nd, the Venezuelan National Electoral Council (CNE) announced the results of counting 96.87% of the votes, according to which incumbent President Nicolas Maduro won with 51.95% of the vote. However, opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia declared that he did not recognize the results.
Regarding the election, on August 7-8, the Venezuelan Public Prosecutor's Office announced it had opened a criminal investigation to determine the responsibility of an online portal that disseminated false information causing public panic, as well as those involved in posting forged documents on the website. The announcement, signed by Attorney General Tarek William Saab, stated that the allegedly forged or fabricated documents were posted on the website https://resultadosconvzla.com/, with the "purpose of illegally usurping the functions of the CNE."
This document asserts that those responsible for posting and maintaining this website will be investigated for multiple offenses, including usurpation of government authority, falsification of public documents, computer crimes, and incitement to disobedience.
