Venezuela's Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) has declared that opposition parties supporting presidential candidate Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia have failed to provide any evidence or records related to fraud in the July 28 election.

The TSJ also said that despite receiving a summons, Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia did not appear in court. The TSJ began hearings on August 7 for all 10 candidates who ran in the recent presidential election to expedite the process of the court certifying the official results of the election.
Previously, on August 2, the Venezuelan National Electoral Council (CNE) announced the results of 96.87% of the votes, according to which incumbent President Nicolas Maduro won with 51.95% of the votes. However, opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia declared that he did not recognize the above results.
Regarding the election, on August 7, the Venezuelan Public Prosecutor's Office announced that it had opened a criminal investigation to determine the responsibility of an electronic information portal that disseminated false information causing confusion among the public, as well as those involved in posting forged documents on this website. The announcement, signed by Attorney General Tarek William Saab, stated that the documents allegedly forged or faked were posted on the website https://resultadosconvzla.com/, with the "purpose of illegally usurping the functions of the CNE".
The document states that those responsible for posting and maintaining the website will be investigated for a variety of crimes, including usurpation of government functions, falsification of public documents, computer crimes and incitement to disobey the law.
