Dr. Dong Van Ngoc, principal of Hanoi College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, said this is the first year the school has applied this program to all engineering and agricultural students starting from their first year.
Specifically, starting from the 2024-2025 academic year, students in these majors will participate in study and internship programs at businesses related to their field of study. Each program will last 3 months/year, and students will receive a monthly salary.
The school has finalized agreements with partner businesses to implement this program. The businesses commit to paying students studying and interning at their companies a salary of 10-12 million VND per month. In addition, the businesses will cover the students' living expenses.
Mr. Ngoc believes that in addition to the benefits of learning industrial work habits, corporate culture, and work skills from an early age, students also benefit financially. Specifically, according to him, for each 3-month study and internship period at a company each year, students earn between 30 and 36 million VND.
Meanwhile, tuition fees at the school for engineering and agriculture majors are 18 million VND per year. "This means that even during their studies, students can cover their tuition fees and still have some extra money to cover living expenses," Mr. Ngoc said.
In addition, students who wish to work in Japan can do an internship in Japan for one year (during their second year).
Students are guaranteed accommodation, insurance, living expenses, and a salary of approximately 180 million VND after one year of study and internship in Japan, provided by Japanese companies.
New students will receive counseling and, upon registration, will begin learning Japanese immediately after enrollment. After their first year, they will go to Japan for study and internships at businesses, and in their third year, they will return to Hanoi College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering to study and graduate.
"To implement these programs, the school signs cooperation agreements with businesses to create specific funding sources for students. The biggest goal is to create more advantages for those who choose vocational training, allowing them to hone their skills early, earn income while studying, and open up more job opportunities after graduation," Mr. Ngoc explained.
For the 2024-2025 academic year, Hanoi College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering will enroll students in 35 college-level programs and 45 intermediate and basic-level programs. The enrollment target for college and intermediate-level students is 3,000 students per year.
