China conducts joint military exercises with two East African countries.

The "Peaceful Reunification-2024" military exercise officially began on July 29th and is expected to last until mid-August.

Prior to this, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China had conducted battlefield surveys and established command centers in preparation for this joint exercise.

The trilateral counter-terrorism exercise with Tanzania and Mozambique is taking place against the backdrop of Beijing's efforts to strengthen military diplomacy with African countries.

Prior to the start of the exercises, several tactical training drills using armored combat vehicles and self-propelled artillery were conducted at the comprehensive training center built by China for the Tanzanian army in Mapinga, Bagamoyo district.

Beijing has sent infantry units from the PLA Central Military Region as well as a naval task force from the Southern Military Region to participate in the East Africa exercise.

Observers believe the joint exercise will bring many benefits to China and the participating African nations, not only in military training but also in strengthening political relations.

Paul Nantulya, a China expert at the Center for Strategic African Studies at the National Defense University in Washington, stated that the exercise will include counter-terrorism operations on land and at sea, boarding and apprehension, anti-piracy patrols, and joint maritime patrols.
