The ASEAN Graphic Art Competition and Exhibition is an opportunity for Vietnamese artists and artists from ASEAN countries to interact, exchange ideas, and showcase new achievements in graphic art creation in the region; to introduce the culture, country, and people of each nation within a united and dynamic community. This artistic activity aims to enhance understanding and solidarity within ASEAN, while also providing an opportunity for the Vietnamese public to appreciate selected graphic works by contemporary ASEAN artists.
The ASEAN Graphic Art Exhibition is a significant cultural and artistic event of 2024 for artists both domestically and internationally, with the aim of promoting diplomatic activities within the ASEAN bloc through the exhibition.
After three previous editions, the 4th ASEAN Graphic Art Competition and Exhibition, organized by the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibitions and the Department of International Cooperation - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, in coordination with relevant units, will take place in Vietnam, with the opening ceremony scheduled for December 2024 in Hai Phong City.
The competition is open to citizens of the following ASEAN countries: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The themes and content of the competition revolve around life, people, natural landscapes, a peaceful country, unity, cooperation, friendship, and contemporary issues of concern and shared interests among ASEAN countries.

The works submitted to the 4th ASEAN Graphic Art Competition and Exhibition - Vietnam 2024 were created from 2020 to the present, and include the following graphic printmaking categories: Relief printing: wood engraving, rubber engraving, cardboard engraving, and other relief printing techniques; Intaglio printing: metal engraving, mica engraving, film engraving, photogravure engraving, collagraph; Flat printing: lithography, lithography on metal, lithography on wood; Stencil printing: screen printing, die-cut printing; Monoprinting; Printing using other techniques: cyanotype (blue print), gumprint, digital printing; Multidimensional printing: printmaking installations, printmaking book art, multi-layered printing.
This year's competition is judged by an Art Council comprising 7 members who are reputable professionals in the field of printmaking and graphic design in Vietnam, and 1 to 3 international experts.
The competition is organized into two rounds. Round 1 - Selection of exhibited works via image files: Authors will submit image files of their artwork via email for selection ([email protected]). Each author may submit a maximum of 3 entries, each artwork being a single JPG file with clear quality (5MB-300dpi) accompanied by a text file containing complete information about the author and the artwork (according to the template). Each submitted image file must clearly state the file name in the following order: Author's Name - Artwork Title - Year Created - Printing Technique - Size. The Organizing Committee will accept image files from August 1st to August 31st, 2024.
Round 2 - Authors submit their selected graphic artworks from Round 1 to the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibitions - 38 Cao Ba Quat, Ba Dinh, Hanoi , Vietnam for exhibition and judging. The Organizing Committee will notify the participating authors of the results, and authors must submit their artwork to the Organizing Committee by October 15, 2024.
Entries must meet all professional requirements for printmaking, including the author's name, the specific number of copies printed, and the year of creation printed on the printed paper. Authors residing in Vietnam must submit framed artwork ready for display. Authors residing in ASEAN countries can submit prints without frames.
BTC also stipulates that the size of submitted artwork must be based on the painting dimensions: no smaller than 40x40cm and no larger than 200x200cm. If the artwork consists of multiple panels, the size of each panel must not exceed the above limits. The size of multi-dimensional printed artwork (installations, book art) must not exceed 2m²…
The 4th ASEAN Graphic Art Competition and Exhibition - Vietnam 2024 will award prizes including: 1 First Prize; 3 Second Prizes; 5 Third Prizes; and 7 Consolation Prizes. Each author is only eligible for one award at the Exhibition. Award-winning works will be announced and presented on the Opening Day. Foreign authors who win official awards will have their round-trip airfare, meals, and accommodation to Vietnam covered by the Organizing Committee to receive their awards. In addition to the awards presented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, the Organizing Committee will also seek funding from sponsors to award additional prizes outside the official award system.
Participating in the Competition, winning works and those displayed in the exhibition will receive certificates and prize money; Vietnamese artists will receive exhibition fees according to current State regulations; the right to use the works for promotional and non-commercial purposes will belong to the Organizing Committee, while the author retains their personal rights. After the Exhibition ends, the Organizing Committee will be responsible for returning the works to the authors in ASEAN countries.
At the same time, authors whose works are exhibited are awarded certificates and a copy of the Exhibition's catalog.
