On August 12, the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province held a press conference to inform about the 100-year festival of wax coconut trees and Vu Lan Thang Hoi Week in Cau Ke district in 2024.

Mr. Le Thanh Binh - Vice Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee said that the purpose of the above two events is to honor and promote the brand and unique values of Tra Vinh wax coconut.
The event took place from August 25-31, in Cau Ke district. The Tra Vinh 100-year Wax Coconut Festival has 12 main activities, including outstanding activities such as the opening ceremony of the 100-year Wax Coconut Festival, a fair of wax coconut products, seminars, competitions... The opening ceremony of the Festival has a 15-minute fireworks display.
Vu Lan Thang Hoi Week will begin with the announcement of the decision of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to certify the festival as a national intangible cultural heritage, festival activities, culture, cuisine, sports, folk games...

Thereby, raising awareness of building, preserving and developing the brand of OCOP products in the whole province; attracting people's participation in promoting the values, brand of wax coconut and the effort and determination to bring products processed from wax coconut to the world market.
At the same time, continue to preserve, maintain and promote the Vu Lan Thang Festival, the religious festival of the Chinese community in Cau Ke district, which has been included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Currently, the wax coconut area in Tra Vinh province reaches 1,000 hectares, increasing every year compared to 2005 with only 43 hectares. The average wax coconut yield is over 3 million fruits/year, the economic efficiency is about 4 times higher than that of normal coconut trees, bringing high economic efficiency to local people.
Wax Coconut is also one of the favorite dishes of many international diners, bringing a unique and attractive culinary experience.
