In anticipation of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), a tribute ceremony was held on the evening of August 14th in Quang Tri province to honor outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to the country. This was one of the activities in the "Revisiting the Old Battlefields" journey organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs in coordination with other units from August 13th to 16th in the provinces of Quang Binh , Quang Tri, and Thua Thien Hue.
At the tribute night, delegates reminisced about the glorious years of the nation's resistance wars; they chatted, enjoyed cultural performances, and sang songs that reminded them of the heroic era and the selfless dedication and sacrifice of the heroes and martyrs.

At the tribute night, Tran Xuan Dien, Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department, shared that, deeply rooted in the tradition of "Drinking water, remembering the source," Ho Chi Minh City has implemented many "Gratitude and Repayment" movements in recent times, caring for families of wounded soldiers, martyrs, and those who have contributed to the revolution.

During the period 2013-2023, Ho Chi Minh City mobilized nearly 189 billion VND for the "Gratitude and Repayment" Fund; contributing to improving the lives of policy beneficiary families; ensuring that 100% of living Vietnamese Heroic Mothers are cared for by relevant units; and ensuring that 100% of communes and wards perform well in the work related to war invalids and martyrs.

According to the Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department, in recent years, many guidelines and policies of the Party and laws of the State on preferential treatment for people with meritorious services have been issued and implemented synchronously, comprehensively, and diversely; the scope of beneficiaries of preferential policies has been expanded, and preferential regimes have been gradually supplemented and perfected, contributing to improving the living standards of people with meritorious services and their relatives.
It is an honor and a responsibility for present and future generations to honor the dedication and sacrifice of heroes, martyrs, and wounded soldiers for the independence and freedom of the nation, and for the happiness of the people.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation of war veterans, Mr. Pham Van Quang (born in 1947) shared that the delegation was extremely honored, proud, and moved to revisit the old battlefield, to reminisce together about the tradition of fighting, the heroic sacrifices, and the glorious victories of the war-torn Binh Tri Thien battlefield.
"Most of us have reached a venerable age, but we still cherish the desire to visit our relatives and comrades who rest in peace on this land. We, who have made contributions, will always maintain our exemplary conduct, continue to engage in economic activities, actively participate in social activities, and uphold the integrity of revolutionary soldiers, serving as role models for the younger generation to follow," Mr. Quang shared.

On this occasion, the organizing committee also presented flowers and gifts of gratitude to 60 delegates who are meritorious individuals in Ho Chi Minh City, with each gift worth 5 million VND.
