| The price of betel nuts is 10 times higher than last year. |
The price at the beginning of the season was 50,000 VND/kg, but for about a month now, the price of betel nuts has increased sharply, reaching 55,000 VND, 60,000 VND, and now 65,000 VND/kg. Compared to last year, this is an 8-10 fold increase.
Two years ago, the price of betel nuts plummeted, from 12,000 VND/kg at the beginning of the season, down to 5,000-7,000 VND in the middle of the season, and then "hit rock bottom" at 2,000-3,000 VND/kg, yet there were still no buyers.
According to residents of Cao Son commune, Anh Son district: While betel nut prices reached a record high of 90,000 VND/kg in 2021, they plummeted in 2022 and 2023. In 2022, the price dropped to only 5,000 VND/kg, and even then, they couldn't sell them because there were no traders buying them.
According to traders specializing in buying betel nuts, farmers in Khai Son commune, Anh Son district, said that this year, betel nut prices have remained high since the beginning of the season and have been increasing daily. In Nghe An province alone, the price of betel nuts is currently at 60,000-65,000 VND/kg (depending on the type). While prices are high, they will immediately drop if China stops buying. There have been years when prices were 70,000 VND/kg, but just a few days later, they plummeted to only 5,000-7,000 VND/kg.

Observations at orchards in Binh Thuan and Tien Giang provinces also show that dragon fruit prices are falling sharply. White-fleshed varieties are currently selling for 7,000-12,000 VND per kilogram, while red-fleshed varieties range from 8,000-15,000 VND per kilogram (depending on the type).
The owner of a dragon fruit orchard in Binh Thuan province said he recently sold his entire orchard (about 5 tons) at 8,500 VND per kilogram, earning nearly 40 million VND. This is a 36% decrease compared to the previous season.
According to dragon fruit traders in Binh Thuan, the reason for the sharp drop in dragon fruit prices is the reduced demand from China, coupled with a bumper crop this season.

Thai custard apples have few seeds, thin skin, a rich, sweet flavor, and an attractive appearance, making them very popular in the market. In the weather conditions of Buon Ma Thuot, Dak Lak province, Thai custard apple trees yield fruit from June until the Lunar New Year, but the harvest is concentrated from August to September.
During the Lunar New Year, Thai custard apples sell for up to 80,000 to 100,000 VND/kg, while on regular days, the wholesale price ranges from 35,000 to 40,000 VND/kg. Currently, production is not abundant, so supply still falls short of demand.
Each 5-year-old Thai custard apple tree yields 35 to 40 kg per harvest. If the tree is in a stable production period and well-cared for, it can yield 50 to 70 kg per tree.
If planted at a density of 625 trees/ha (4m x 4m), and with the current market price of Thai custard apples, the annual harvest would range from 700 million to 900 million VND/ha.
