Pepper prices today, August 4, 2024: Prices rise again across the board.

In the Southeast region, prices increased by 500-1,000 VND/kg in some localities compared to yesterday, trading around 146,000-147,000 VND/kg. The highest purchase price was in Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Binh Phuoc, and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces at 147,000 VND/kg.

The price of pepper in Dak Lak is being purchased at 147,000 VND/kg, an increase of 500 VND/kg compared to yesterday. The price of pepper in Chu Se (Gia Lai) remains unchanged at 146,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. The price of pepper in Dak Nong today is recorded at 147,000 VND/kg, an increase of 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

In the Southeast region, pepper prices increased by 1,000 VND/kg today compared to yesterday. Specifically, in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, the price is currently at 147,000 VND/kg, up 1,000 VND/kg from yesterday; in Binh Phuoc, the price remains at 147,000 VND/kg, also up 1,000 VND/kg from yesterday.

At the close of the most recent trading session, the International Pepper Association (IPC) listed the price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper at US$7,176 per ton, and Muntok white pepper at US$8,793 per ton.

The price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper is $6,750/ton. The price of Malaysian ASTA black pepper is $8,500/ton; the price of Malaysian ASTA white pepper is $10,400/ton.

Vietnamese black pepper prices remained consistently high, trading at US$6,000/ton for the 500 g/l variety; US$6,600/ton for the 550 g/l variety; and white pepper at US$8,800/ton.

Rambutan prices have risen sharply.

Due to reduced supply as the main harvest season draws to a close, the prices of many types of rambutan in the Mekong Delta and neighboring provinces have increased sharply by 5,000-10,000 VND/kg compared to about a month ago and are currently at a fairly high level.

In many areas, farmers are selling Thai rambutan and rambutan with a longan-like appearance to traders and fruit wholesalers at prices ranging from 28,000 to 32,000 VND/kg; Java rambutan is priced at 12,000 to 15,000 VND/kg.

Meanwhile, the retail price of rambutan (both the longan variety and Thai variety) at many markets and fruit stalls is 55,000-60,000 VND/kg, while Java rambutan is priced at 30,000 VND/kg. This price is more than double the price during the peak harvest season in May 2024.

Today's agricultural product prices: Soursop prices have fallen to a low level.

The price of soursop in many localities in the Mekong Delta has decreased further by about 5,000-10,000 VND/kg compared to more than a month ago and is currently at its lowest level in many months.

This price is currently 20,000 VND/kg lower than at the beginning of the year.

Durian prices on August 4th: Fluctuations in Thai durian.

Durian prices are highest in the Southwestern and Southeastern regions of Vietnam and lowest in the Central Highlands. Prices at the farm will be 3,000-5,000 VND/kg lower than the prices at the wholesale market, depending on the purchasing method used by traders (bulk purchase or selective purchase).

High-quality Ri6 durian reached 62,000 – 65,000 VND/kg, while lower-quality Ri6 durian reached 52,000 – 55,000 VND/kg. High-quality Thai durian was priced at 82,000 – 85,000 VND/kg, while lower-quality Thai durian remained at 62,000 – 65,000 VND/kg, a further decrease compared to the previous day.

For durian in the Southeast region, prices have decreased slightly compared to yesterday. Specifically, the purchase price at the wholesale market is 60,000 – 62,000 VND/kg for high-quality Ri6 durian and 50,000 – 55,000 VND/kg for lower-quality Ri6 durian; high-quality Thai durian is priced at 82,000 - 85,000 VND/kg; while lower-quality Thai durian remains at 62,000 – 65,000 VND/kg.

In the Central Highlands region, the price of high-quality Ri6 durian is 58,000 - 60,000 VND/kg, while the price for lower-quality Ri6 durian is 50,000 - 52,000 VND/kg; high-quality Thai durian is priced at 80,000 - 85,000 VND/kg; and lower-quality Thai durian is priced at 60,000 - 62,000 VND/kg.

Na Chi Lang enters the main harvest season.

At this time of year, custard apples in Chi Lang are entering their peak harvest season, so farmers in the mountainous communes of Chi Lang district, Lang Son province, wake up early in the morning and busily climb the mountains to harvest the plump, ripe custard apples, ready to be brought down to the markets located at the foot of the mountains.

Hung Yen's specialty longan fruit commands a high price.

At this time, orchards and cooperatives in Hung Yen province are entering the longan harvest season. Several specialty longan varieties, such as the "old flesh" longan, the "veined flesh" longan, and the "rock sugar" longan, are in high demand from customers and traders.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hung Yen province, there are currently about 5,000 hectares of longan trees planted in the province; of which, about 1,000 hectares are planted with the old-fashioned, rock sugar longan varieties, concentrated in Hung Yen city and the districts of An Thi, Kim Dong, Tien Lu, and Khoai Chau.

To date, the farmers here have harvested 600 kg of longan, mainly ordered by customers as gifts. Currently, customers order an average of 200-300 kg of longan per day, with an average selling price of 70,000 - 80,000 VND/kg. They estimate that the harvest will be finished in about a week.

Other farmers are also busy preparing enough longan to deliver to customers. This year, their family started harvesting longan on July 23rd, and so far they have harvested about 70%, mainly due to large orders from traders and organizations for gifts. Their family expects to harvest about 7 tons, and with an average selling price of 70,000 VND/kg, they are very excited.
