Sonja Dennig (28 years old), who has nearly 480,000 followers on TikTok, had a disappointing holiday after falling victim to a scam while visiting a tranquil island in Germany.
On July 28th, Sonja recounted on her personal TikTok channel how she was scammed during her vacation. The video quickly went viral, attracting over 3.6 million views.
She said she had booked a hotel room for her trip to Westerland, on the island of Sylt in Germany. Images circulating online showed the room had a "sea view," with sand dunes visible from the window and plenty of warm sunshine, according to Nypost .
She was very excited about the trip. "We're really looking forward to exploring this beautiful scenery," Sonja shared enthusiastically at the time.
However, upon arriving at the hotel and checking in, she was completely shocked. She realized that the view of the sand dunes and the blue sea was actually a large painting hanging in the window. And the "sunlight" was just light emanating from a light bulb.
"It was just a painting. Our room was in the basement," she shared angrily. "No one has ever deceived me like this before," she said.
Her video went viral, sparking a wave of outrage from social media users. Many sympathized with her experience and condemned the blatant fraud perpetrated by the company she booked with.
Back in May, Clarisa Murgia, who lives in Argentina, also experienced a similar situation to Sonja while traveling in Europe. Clarisa chose a room described as having a sea view, with numerous beautiful pictures on the hotel's website.
But when she arrived, she opened the curtains to enjoy the sea view and was stunned to discover it was just a painting. Her story has attracted over 2.5 million views.

The guy faced a bitter experience on his first hotel visit with his girlfriend of four years.

To save money, the whole family of eight rented luxury hotels for hundreds of days.

While sleeping in her hotel room, the woman was shocked to discover a break-in.
