On August 1st, at the Presidential Palace in New Delhi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with President Droupadi Murmu during his state visit to India, according to the Government's Electronic Information Portal. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated India on its great achievements in economic development, science and technology, defense and security, infrastructure development, and the continuously improving living standards of its people. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked the President and Government of India for their condolences and touching gesture following the passing of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, an outstanding leader of the Vietnamese people and a close friend of the Indian people. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Vietnam will always remember India's valuable support in its past struggle for national liberation, as well as in its current national construction and development efforts. Thanking India for its support during the COVID-19 pandemic, which included ventilators, oxygen generators, and masks, Vietnam also donated ventilators and medical equipment to India, demonstrating the two countries' unwavering solidarity during difficult times. Vietnam always supports and wishes for India's continued growth and development, with an increasingly prominent role and position in the region and internationally. President Droupadi Murmu emphasized that Vietnam and India have a long-standing tradition of friendship, nurtured by generations of leaders and people of both countries. The President expressed his pleasure that in recent years, relations between the two countries have developed very strongly, especially since the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2016. Exchanges of delegations and cooperation between the two countries have developed at all levels and through all channels; all areas of cooperation have made remarkable progress. President Droupadi Murmu highly appreciated the results of the talks between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, especially the adoption of the Joint Statement on strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and deepening cooperation in various fields based on the "Year of More". The President expressed confidence that the documents signed on this occasion would be actively implemented by both sides. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked and requested the President to continue paying attention to and supporting Vietnam-India relations, especially defense cooperation, to continue supporting Vietnam with preferential credit packages, training, and capacity building, and to encourage the implementation of measures to achieve the goal of doubling bilateral trade, investment, and tourism by 2030, and to increase the frequency of direct flights to promote exchanges between the people and localities of the two countries. On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed the greetings and invitation from President To Lam to President Droupadi Murmu to arrange a visit to Vietnam in the near future.
