On the afternoon of April 29, in Ho Chi Minh City, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith on the occasion of his visit to attend the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification and the Inauguration Ceremony of Wharf No. 3, Laos - Vietnam International Port, in Vung Ang Economic Zone.

Expressing sincere thanks to Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith and his delegation for attending the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam, National Reunification and the Inauguration Ceremony of Wharf No. 3, Laos - Vietnam International Port, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his deep gratitude to the Lao Party, State and people for always standing side by side and wholeheartedly supporting the Party, State and people of Vietnam in the past struggle for independence as well as in the cause of national construction and development today.

The Prime Minister congratulated Laos on the important and historic achievements it has made in recent times; he believed that under the wise leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party headed by Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith, Laos will successfully implement the Resolution of the 11th Party Congress and the 5-year socio-economic development plan, successfully organize the 12th Party Congress, and continue to build Laos into a peaceful, independent, self-reliant, prosperous country with an increasingly high position in the international and regional arena.

The Prime Minister affirmed that, consistently, Vietnam always gives the highest priority to the special and rare solidarity relationship with Laos and always stands side by side, strongly and comprehensively supporting the cause of protection, construction, innovation and development of Laos; expressing his joy at the increasingly developing Vietnam - Laos relationship, with many positive changes in various fields in recent times, which is a premise for the two countries to firmly and confidently enter a new era of national development.

Expressing his joy at attending the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of South Vietnam, National Reunification and the Inauguration Ceremony of Wharf No. 3, Laos-Vietnam International Port, General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith affirmed that the Great Victory of Spring 1975 was a glorious and proud historical milestone not only for Vietnam but also for Laos, creating favorable conditions for the Lao army and people to move forward to achieve total victory in 1975. The 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of South Vietnam, National Reunification of Vietnam is also an opportunity for the people of the two countries to review the history of the special fighting alliance and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

The General Secretary and President of Laos emphasized that the inauguration ceremony of Terminal No. 3, Laos - Vietnam International Port is an extremely important political event, a vivid symbol of the unique Vietnam - Laos relationship, conveying a strong message that thanks to Vietnam, from a landlocked country, Laos has a "road to the sea", Laos has transformed from a landlocked country to a connected country.

General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith congratulated Vietnam on the important achievements in various fields in recent times and expressed his belief that under the correct leadership of the Party, Vietnam will continue to gain many new and greater achievements, successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress, successfully organize the 14th Party Congress, and firmly enter a new era, an era of national growth.

Affirming that the Lao Party, State and people will do their utmost to preserve and foster the special Vietnam-Laos relationship, the Lao General Secretary and President highly appreciated the strong coordination and direction of the two Prime Ministers and emphasized the importance of the coordination mechanism of the two Governments together with the efforts of the ministries, branches and localities of the two countries in effectively implementing the high-level agreements of the two countries, the agreements between the two Governments as well as the cooperation programs and plans of the two sides.

General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith highly appreciated the results of the working meeting between the two Prime Ministers on the occasion of the P4G Conference in Hanoi on April 16, which brought about concrete results, and were an important foundation for the two countries to fulfill the goals set by the two countries' senior leaders in bilateral relations.

On this occasion, the two leaders discussed a number of directions and tasks in the bilateral relationship in the coming time, accordingly, it is necessary to continue promoting the tradition of cooperation, solidarity, political trust, ensuring the maintenance of national defense and security; further promoting traffic and economic connectivity between Vietnam and Laos and between the three countries of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, prioritizing infrastructure construction and border trade; sharing information on recent world and regional situations, exchanging, closely coordinating, and supporting each other at international and regional forums; continuing to closely coordinate with ministries and local branches of the two sides to effectively implement high-level agreements between the two countries in the new situation.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh especially emphasized that the two leaders discussed major directions as well as specific solutions to enhance connectivity between the two countries in five areas: transportation, energy, trade, digital transformation, and human resources.
