This information was provided by Mr. Le Hoai Nam, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, on the morning of August 7th.
Accordingly, in the supplementary enrollment period, except for the top three high schools – Nguyen Thuong Hien, Phu Nhuan, and Le Quy Don – which had no applicants, all other schools successfully recruited additional students for the 2024-2025 school year. Some schools even achieved 100% enrollment for grade 10, meeting the quotas assigned by the Department of Education and Training.
According to Mr. Le Hoai Nam, the application of regional priority has brought several advantages to candidates and high schools. Specifically, it ensures that candidates in disadvantaged suburban areas can continue their studies at public high schools.
According to regulations from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, from August 7th to 4 PM on August 12th, schools will accept candidates who have been admitted through the supplementary admissions process.
The 2024-2025 school year marks the second year that the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training is organizing supplementary admissions for 10th grade. This year, 36 public high schools are conducting supplementary admissions with 2,203 available places.

Among them, the schools with the highest number of additional enrollment slots for 10th grade are Phong Phu High School (Binh Chanh District) with 300 slots. Following that are Nguyen Van Linh High School (District 8) with 191 students, An Nhon Tay High School (Cu Chi District) with 140 students, and Nguyen Van Tang High School (Thu Duc City) with 134 students.
Students can register for additional admission if they have not been accepted into any public high school they applied to, and their total score from the three exam subjects plus priority points is greater than or equal to the cutoff score for their third choice at that school.
Specifically, students from junior high schools in Can Gio, Nha Be, Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi districts and Thu Duc City, if they register for high schools in the same area, their total exam score must meet the cutoff score for their first choice.
The entrance exam for 10th grade in public schools in Ho Chi Minh City for the 2024-2025 school year took place on June 6-7, with over 98,000 candidates participating. Of these, the city has a quota of over 77,300 students for public 10th grade.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the cutoff scores for public high schools on July 3rd, with Nguyen Thuong Hien High School having the highest score at 24.25/30 points.
