With the unanimous approval of 100% of the delegates attending the 26th session of the 13th Provincial People's Council, term 2021-2026, on the morning of August 2nd, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Giang was elected to the position of Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee, term 2020-2025.
Taking on the role of Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province at a time when the 2024 fiscal year is only 5 months away and is also a pivotal year for accelerating towards the end of the 2020-2025 term, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Giang stated that this is a period requiring high concentration on promoting socio -economic development, ensuring national security and defense, and improving the lives of the people.
Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Hoang Giang, expressed that assuming this new position and role is a very special experience for him personally. Although he needs more time to familiarize himself with it, he believes that all levels, sectors, and localities will work together to build a strong and prosperous Quang Ngai.
"For now, as the head of the Provincial People's Committee, I will focus on directing and managing according to the conclusions and resolutions issued by the most recent sessions of the Provincial People's Council, ensuring the effective implementation of the 2024 plan, then striving to accelerate in 2025, focusing on completing the targets set for the term," said the Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee.
In the long term, Mr. Giang believes there are two major areas to focus on. The first is that Quang Ngai must concentrate on boosting industrial development. The province's advantages include the Binh Son oil refinery complex, which the government is aiming to develop into a national energy center; and the success of the VSIP industrial park…
"Building on the success of VSIP Industrial Park Phase 1, we need to accelerate land clearance to implement VSIP Phase 2. At the same time, we need to attract investors, especially successful people from Quang Ngai, to do business in the province. This will create jobs for the people and increase budget revenue," Mr. Giang stated.
Regarding social welfare, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province stated that Quang Ngai has a large number of policy beneficiaries, families with revolutionary merit, and many mountainous districts. In addition to effectively implementing policies, fundamental solutions are needed to develop charitable housing, schools, hospitals, and schools in remote areas.
For the five mountainous districts, where people's lives are still difficult, more attention needs to be paid to social policies. The province will allocate funds and increase investment in schools, health stations, hospitals, and create livelihoods so that people's lives can develop further, striving to ensure that no one is left behind.
Accelerate infrastructure development and digital transformation.
According to the new Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, transportation in particular and infrastructure in general are among the breakthroughs since the beginning of the national party congress term to promote development, trade, and serve the travel needs of the people.
In recent years, Quang Ngai has invested in many infrastructure development projects, especially transportation projects. However, the implementation process has encountered numerous challenges such as compensation and land clearance issues. Most key transportation projects are currently facing obstacles, problems, and delays.
As the head of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Giang stated that he would listen to detailed reports from agencies and units on each project. He will gradually focus on resolving specific obstacles and removing bottlenecks.
Closely follow the conclusions of inspections and audits, and seek guidance from competent authorities to promptly resolve outstanding issues in accordance with the law. Complete projects and works as soon as possible, putting them into operation and maximizing the effectiveness of invested resources.
In parallel with addressing existing problems, it is also necessary to maximize the use of relationships and implement new initiatives to continue investing in and improving infrastructure.
“I am also very concerned about the development of tourism in Quang Ngai. For tourism to be good, the infrastructure must be good. When tourists come, there must be tourism products and beautiful roads so that we can generate revenue. Tourism is an effective livelihood to solve social welfare problems and increase income for the people,” Mr. Giang expressed.
The new Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province also shared that he has set a goal of applying his expertise gained during his years as Deputy Minister of Science and Technology to promote digital transformation and administrative reform in Quang Ngai.
"For Quang Ngai, it is necessary to implement digital transformation and apply information technology more strongly. Equip all levels and sectors with a mindset about digital transformation and apply it in leadership, management, production, and business. This is also considered a fundamental and important solution," Mr. Giang said.
