On the morning of April 23, at Hue City Library, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hue City coordinated with local units to organize the Opening Ceremony of the 4th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2025. At the program, there were exhibitions and displays introducing to readers more than 200 books about Hue and Hue Bookcases; Displaying 50 works of the Hue Book Cover Design Contest with the theme "My Homeland Hue"; Displaying products applied to life from the designs of students such as conical hat covers, silk scarves, decorative book boxes, etc.

On this occasion, the Organizing Committee presented 300 copies of the book to public libraries, private libraries, local reading spaces, prisons, detention camps, universities, colleges and high schools in the city; 200 other copies were presented to units, researchers and localities to continue spreading knowledge and cultural values ​​typical of the ancient capital of Hue.

At the same time, launching the preliminary round of the Reading Culture Ambassador Contest 2025 in Hue City, an annual activity organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The contest aims to attract and create conditions for organizations and individuals to participate in activities to develop a reading culture, aiming to build a learning society, arousing the desire to contribute to the development of a prosperous country in every Vietnamese person.

In particular, on the occasion of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, the People's Committee of Hue City launched two new publications of the Hue Bookcase, within the framework of the Project "Establishing and Developing the Hue Bookcase". This is the result of the joint efforts of many researchers, experts and publishing units.

The two publications launched are: "Hue - Monuments and scenic spots" introducing to readers an overview of ranked monuments and scenic spots, including: Monuments associated with the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh in Hue; monuments associated with the Tay Son dynasty; monuments associated with the Nguyen dynasty; monuments associated with the period of revolutionary struggle and national liberation; architectural and artistic monuments; archaeological monuments...

The publication "Village Covenants in Hue City" introduces 67 typical and valuable village covenants for reference in research on villages. The book provides original Han Nom documents - a typical heritage of the ancient capital of Hue, helping readers to expand and deepen their understanding of traditional cultural, economic and social history.

Mr. Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Department of Culture and Information of Hue City, said that these are two valuable works in many aspects, contributing to spreading the cultural heritage values ​​of the ancient capital, and are important documents to help present and future generations have the opportunity to learn more deeply about the historical and cultural roots of the nation. Up to now, Hue Bookcase has introduced 12 publications to readers, contributing to a systematic introduction to the land, people, culture and history of Hue.

Within the framework of the opening program, there was also a Presentation Round of the Hue Book Cover Design Contest with the theme "My Hometown Hue" for secondary school students in Thuan Hoa and Phu Xuan districts.

Launched on April 1, 2025, the book cover design contest received 1,013 entries from 35 organizations. 50 entries were selected for display at the Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2025; 12 outstanding entries entered the Idea Presentation Round.

At the end of the contest, the Organizing Committee awarded 2 First prizes; 4 Second prizes; 6 Third prizes; 20 Encouragement prizes; 1 creative prize for individuals; awarded 2 prizes to the school with the most winning entries and the school with the most participating entries for groups.
