On the afternoon of August 7, the leader of the Dak Lak Provincial Department of Health said that a team had been established to inspect a company on Ly Thuong Kiet Street (Thong Nhat Ward, Buon Ma Thuot City).
Accordingly, the conditions, procedures, and standards of the vaccination facility belonging to this company will be inspected, after the incident of a 6-month-old girl suffering a skull fracture due to the carelessness of the facility's staff during the pre-vaccination screening process.
Before that, at around 9am on August 2, Mr. BQĐ. and his wife took their daughter BKA to the vaccination facility on Ly Thuong Kiet street for vaccination.
When registering the baby for vaccination, the facility staff invited the mother who was holding baby A. to put the baby on the weighing device, while a company employee was standing there.
Next, baby A's mother was asked to leave the weighing station and go to the reception area. The staff weighed the baby, then returned to the reception desk to get the information form.
During this time, baby A fell from the scale to the ground.
Seeing baby A. crying and turning purple, the family rushed him to Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital for emergency care.
Here, the doctors performed a CT scan of baby A's head. The results showed that the baby had a subarachnoid hemorrhage in the left temporal and occipital lobes; a fracture in the left temporal and occipital skull; and soft tissue swelling in the left temporal region.
Baby A. was transferred to a higher level hospital for treatment. On the same day, August 2, the baby's family took him to Ho Chi Minh City for a check-up. Currently, the baby's health is stable and he is being cared for by his family.
