On the afternoon of August 7th, leaders of the Dak Lak Provincial Department of Health announced that they had formed an inspection team to examine a company on Ly Thuong Kiet Street (Thong Nhat Ward, Buon Ma Thuot City).
Accordingly, the conditions, procedures, and standards of the vaccination facility belonging to this company will be inspected following the incident in which a 6-month-old girl suffered a skull fracture due to the negligence of a facility employee during the screening process before vaccination.
Earlier, at around 9:00 AM on August 2nd, Mr. and Mrs. BQĐ took their daughter, BKA, to a vaccination facility on Ly Thuong Kiet Street for immunization.
When registering the baby for vaccination, the facility staff asked the mother, who was holding baby A, to place the baby on the weighing device, with a company employee standing nearby.
Next, baby A's mother was asked to leave the weighing area and go to the reception desk. A staff member weighed the baby, then returned to the reception desk to fill out an information form.
During this time, baby A. fell from the weighing scale to the ground.
Seeing baby A. crying and turning blue, the family quickly took her to the Buon Ma Thuot University Medical Center for emergency treatment.
Here, doctors performed a CT scan of baby A.'s head. The results showed subarachnoid hemorrhage in the left temporal and occipital lobes; a fracture of the left temporal and occipital skull; and soft tissue swelling in the left temporal region.
Baby A. was transferred to a higher-level hospital for treatment. On the same day, August 2nd, the child was taken by her family for examination in Ho Chi Minh City. Currently, the child's health is stable and she is being cared for by her family.
