According to the report of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on socio-economic growth results, in the first 6 months of the year, the total product in the area (GRDP) is estimated to increase by 6.5% over the same period, the highest since 2020, contributing 19.6% to the overall growth rate of the whole country. In the first 7 months of the year, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue increased by 10%; export turnover increased by 10%; import turnover increased by 5.9%. The index of industrial production (IIP) increased by 6.2% over the same period. State budget revenue reached VND309,000 billion, reaching nearly 64% of the annual estimate. Also on the morning of August 10, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will chair the 4th meeting of the Southeast Regional Coordination Council in Ho Chi Minh City. The meeting will discuss the operation of the regional council; the implementation of the project to form and promote the development of innovation and artificial intelligence startup centers in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai; The implementation of the project to build a dynamic IT industrial zone, attract investment in the production of electrical and electronic products, Internet of Things (IoT) products, and artificial intelligence in the provinces of Dong Nai, Binh Duong, and Ba Ria - Vung Tau. In addition, the meeting will discuss the implementation of the project to study a free trade zone associated with a seaport in the Cai Mep Ha area; develop traffic connecting to Long Thanh airport; and propose a plan to complete the urban railway network in Ho Chi Minh City.
