Recently, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) issued a document regarding the organization of the exhibition "Cultural Characteristics of Ethnic Groups in the Northeast Region within the Vietnamese Ethnic Community" as part of the 11th Northeast Region Ethnic Groups' Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival in Lang Son province, 2024.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism assigned the Museum of Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Ethnic Culture and other relevant units to organize the exhibition "Cultural Characteristics of Ethnic Groups in the Northeast Region within the Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Community" within the framework of the 11th Northeast Region Ethnic Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival in Lang Son province, 2024.
According to the plan, the 11th Northeast Ethnic Groups' Culture, Tourism and Sports Festival is expected to take place over 3 days (from November 2nd to 4th) in Lang Son city (Lang Son province) with the participation of 8 provinces: Bac Giang, Bac Kan, Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Vinh Phuc, Thai Nguyen and Lang Son.
With the theme "Northeast Culture - Identity, Integration, and Reaching Further," the festival will feature numerous cultural, sports, and tourism activities, including: performances and presentations of excerpts from traditional ethnic festivals and cultural rituals; exhibitions and promotions of local traditional cultural products; displays, preparation, and introductions of traditional cuisine; a folk art festival; and a fashion show of costumes of ethnic groups in the Northeast region.
In addition, the event also includes traditional sports activities (competitions in 4 disciplines: tug-of-war, stick pushing, ball throwing, and stilt walking); a tour guide skills demonstration competition; a scientific seminar "Cultural Tourism in the Northeast Region - Origins and Development"; and a Lang Son culinary tourism program…
The festival is an opportunity for artisans, performers, and amateur athletes to meet, interact, exchange experiences, and raise awareness and understanding of preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of ethnic communities in the Northeast region during the period of national integration and development.
At the same time, it is an opportunity for the provinces participating in the Festival in general, and Lang Son province in particular, to introduce and promote their tourism development potential and the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities to domestic and international friends; thereby promoting understanding, enhancing recognition, and contributing to making Vietnam a notable highlight on the global cultural map.
