"On the morning of August 14th, the director of Children's Hospital 1 in Ho Chi Minh City convened a hospital-wide meeting to instruct all departments and wards to conduct a comprehensive review of all pediatric patients currently being treated at Children's Hospital 1, to check whether these children have received both doses of the measles vaccine," said Mr. Ngo Ngoc Quang Minh, deputy director of Children's Hospital 1.

Dr. Quang Minh said that children who have not received both doses of the measles vaccine will be examined free of charge by doctors to determine if they are eligible for vaccination.

For children with chronic diseases such as congenital heart defects, hematological disorders, kidney disease, neurological disorders, etc., receiving vaccinations at Children's Hospital 1 provides greater peace of mind for their families.

Pediatric inpatients aged 9 months to 5 years who meet the vaccination criteria and have the consent of their families will receive a free measles vaccine at Children's Hospital 1.

For children over 5 years old, after a free examination and if they meet the vaccination criteria, the doctor will advise them to get the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, which is also available at the hospital, because the measles vaccine is only free for children under 5 years old under the Expanded Immunization Program.

Following the "comprehensive screening" of all inpatients, the hospital will review newly admitted children in the following days to check if they have received both doses of the measles vaccine.

For children who have not received both doses of the measles vaccine, doctors will examine them, provide advice, and with the family's consent, the hospital will proceed with vaccinating the child.

Children's Hospital 1 has been reviewing, examining, advising, and vaccinating inpatients against measles since the 2018 measles outbreak. However, given the current surge in measles cases, the hospital is intensifying its efforts.

Similarly, from August 2nd to 8th, Children's Hospital 2 also provided free measles vaccinations for inpatients aged 9 months to 5 years who had not received both doses of the measles vaccine.

For children over 5 years old who have not received both doses of the measles vaccine, doctors will examine them, provide consultation, and administer the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine right at the hospital if the child's family agrees.
