Quang Ngai has long been known as the cradle of Sa Huynh culture, and pottery making is the soul of this culture. Sa Huynh ancient pottery dates back 2,000 to 3,000 years, playing an important role in the life and spiritual activities of Sa Huynh residents. However, after thousands of years, this traditional pottery craft is facing the risk of extinction.
Currently, the number of households still maintaining the traditional pottery making profession is not many, mainly concentrated in Trung Son and Vinh An villages, Pho Khanh commune. This is also the area next to An Khe lagoon, the origin of the unique Sa Huynh culture.
