Patients have more convenience when receiving medical examinations outside of regular hours.
Holding the test results for her father and son, Ms. Nguyen The Thanh (37 years old, Cam Xuyen district, Ha Tinh province ) rushed to the initial clinic to read the results. It was already past 5 PM, and Ms. Thanh was worried she would have to stay overnight for the doctor to read the results the next day.
Ms. Thanh shared that her 13-year-old son suffers from sinusitis, rhinitis, and calcium deficiency, and despite treatment, his condition hasn't improved. Her husband frequently experiences rashes and swelling on his body, so they also want to check if his liver and kidney function is affected. The family arranged their schedules and took a bus from Ha Tinh at 9 PM yesterday to Bach Mai Hospital for examination.
"We arrived at the hospital at 5:30 a.m., then waited for our turn to be examined and undergo tests."
Since both my husband and I went for a check-up, there were many tests to be done, and my husband had a colon ultrasound, so we had to wait until 5 PM for the results. When we returned to the clinic, I was quite surprised to see that there were still many patients waiting to be examined.
"The staff said the hospital is open until 9 PM today, so my son and I will get our results today. After the examination, my family will go home tonight, which will save us the extra cost of staying in Hanoi for one night," Ms. Thanh said excitedly.
Ms. Thanh added that extending the hospital's consultation hours would be very convenient for patients, especially those from distant provinces like herself. Patients could return home the same day, saving on other costly expenses.

Also present at Bach Mai Hospital from 5 PM, Ms. Pham Thi Luu (54 years old, from Hai Duong province) shared that upon hearing that the hospital offered after-hours consultations, she and five friends hired a car to come to the hospital.
"I work in an office, so I don't have much time during office hours. Therefore, when I heard that the hospital offered evening check-ups, I encouraged everyone to come for a check-up. I think evening check-ups give people more options for appointments and don't interfere with their daily work," said Mrs. Luu.

Pushing her husband's wheelchair up to the 6th floor to wait for his examination, Ms. Ho Thi Nhung (33 years old, from Nghe An province) shared that she and her husband had just arrived in Hanoi from Nghe An by bus at 4:30 PM. Her husband, Mr. Phong, had fallen a few weeks earlier.
"These past few days, my husband's leg has been hurting more. We planned to go to the hospital for a check-up tomorrow morning, but we were worried and knew the hospital would be open for check-ups in the evening starting today, so we went this afternoon instead. Going at this time of day also seems less crowded, so I think we'll get examined faster," Ms. Nhung said hopefully.
People are proactively scheduling their medical appointments.
On the first day of implementing after-hours medical examinations, the number of people coming for check-ups was not too large. The examination rooms and sample collection areas were located in the same building.

At the patient reception desk, Ms. Nguyen Thi Trang, a hospital employee, said that today 70 to 80 patients had registered online via the hospital's hotline and website. By 6 PM, 150 people had registered for medical examinations. Most patients came from provinces such as Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, etc.
According to Mr. Vu Van Giap, deputy director of Bach Mai Hospital, when the hospital provides after-hours medical examinations, many Hanoi residents, especially office workers, come for check-ups, minimizing the impact on their daily work.

The hospital has a full range of specialized clinics available during business hours, including endocrinology, gastroenterology, musculoskeletal, respiratory, neurology, nephrology and urology, cardiology, infectious diseases, hematology, intensive care, obstetrics, pediatrics, otolaryngology, dentistry, ophthalmology, etc.
According to doctors, from 5 PM to 9 PM on weekdays (Monday to Friday), people will have enough time to undergo imaging tests, blood tests, ultrasounds, and medical examinations. The prices of medical services will remain unchanged.
