During a meeting with US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth , General Phan Van Giang expressed his sincere gratitude to the US Department of War for its support in enhancing Vietnam's capacity to participate in United Nations peacekeeping operations.
He proposed that the two sides strengthen cooperation in effectively implementing dialogue and consultation mechanisms; cooperate in addressing the consequences of war; cooperate in military branches, defense industry, training, military medicine, humanitarian assistance/disaster relief, cybersecurity, peacekeeping, etc.
Secretary Pete Hegseth affirmed the importance of the bilateral defense relationship, consistent with the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The United States supports a peaceful and prosperous Vietnam and promotes relations with the U.S. to contribute to maintaining peace and stability in the region and the world .

The US Secretary of War emphasized that cooperation in addressing the consequences of war continues to be a top priority in the overall bilateral defense cooperation relationship.
General Phan Van Giang requested that the United States continue to support Vietnam in enhancing its capacity to address the consequences of landmines and chemical weapons left over from the war; and continue cooperation in searching for Vietnamese soldiers who died, went missing, or were unaccounted for during the war. Vietnam committed to continuing close coordination and creating the most favorable conditions for MIA (Missing in Action) activities, ensuring that the efforts of both sides to expedite the search work achieve the highest possible effectiveness.
On this occasion, General Phan Van Giang respectfully invites Secretary Pete Hegseth, leaders of the US Department of War, and US defense businesses to participate in the 3rd Vietnam International Defense Exhibition later this year.
During his meeting with Singapore's Minister of Defence, Chan Chun Sing , General Phan Van Giang emphasized that Vietnam highly appreciates Singapore's position, role, and positive contributions to international and regional issues, especially within the ASEAN framework. He expressed his hope that Singapore would continue to play its role, working together with Vietnam and other ASEAN countries to promote the realization of the goals of the ASEAN Community.
The Singaporean Minister of Defence expressed confidence that defence cooperation between the two countries would make further progress, becoming more substantive and effective.
General Phan Van Giang proposed that both sides continue to strengthen substantive cooperation between military branches and in the fields of cybersecurity, maritime security and safety, search and rescue, military medicine, consultation, and mutual support at multilateral forums.
During a meeting with Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Richard Marles , both sides agreed that Vietnam-Australia defence cooperation has achieved practical results in recent times.
General Phan Van Giang stated that both sides need to continue promoting cooperation between military branches, based on the needs, capabilities, interests of each side, and the actual situation, contributing to further enhancing mutual understanding and trust between the two countries' armed forces.
Meeting with Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto , General Phan Van Giang expressed his pleasure at witnessing the continuous nurturing and deepening of relations between the two countries, and their comprehensive development. Vietnam always values its strategic partnership with Italy.
Recognizing the significant potential for bilateral cooperation, both sides agreed to continue promoting cooperation in defense industry, training, and UN peacekeeping; and to explore expanding cooperation in war aftermath remediation, maritime security, military medicine, military culture and sports, and cooperation between military branches.
During a meeting with US Senators Tammy Duckworth and Pete Ricketts , General Phan Van Giang stated that Vietnam considers the US a top strategic partner and wishes to work with the US to further deepen the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The US senators unanimously agreed with the assessment of the Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense regarding the positive developments in bilateral relations.
Both parties in the US Congress highly value and strongly support the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; they appreciate Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements as well as its increasingly important role and position in the region and the world.
General Phan Van Giang requested that the senators continue to support and promote cooperation between US states and Vietnamese localities, and assist in expanding business connections, investment, trade, education and training, science and technology, and people-to-people exchanges.
Acknowledging the proposals from the Vietnamese side, the senators agreed that the two countries have much room to promote cooperation, with the important connecting role of the business communities, localities, and people of both countries.
The senators expressed their appreciation for the goodwill, responsibility, and humanitarian cooperation of the Government and people of Vietnam in the search for American soldiers missing in action during the war; and affirmed their continued interest in and support for cooperation programs aimed at addressing the consequences of war.
General Phan Van Giang expressed his hope that the senators would continue to be friends and positive bridges for Vietnam-US relations and would soon visit Vietnam.
