It has been a long time since the generation of Cong Phuong, Tuan Anh, Xuan Truong, Van Thanh, etc., that HAGL has reached the top of a national youth tournament. This once again confirms that Chairman Duc was not just paying lip service when he stated: "No matter what, I am determined to keep the football academy going."
The HAGL Football Academy, built with the dedication and investment of Chairman Duc, has produced a high-quality first batch of players, including Tuan Anh, Cong Phuong, and Xuan Truong… These players inspired the rebuilding of Vietnamese football with their strong performances in domestic and international youth tournaments. This generation of players, possessing talent, ethics, and education, has significantly changed the image of Vietnamese football. The beautiful style of football from HAGL has spread to other clubs, leading to a decrease in rough tackles and aggressive play.

However, when the HAGL Group and Chairman Duc faced difficulties, the HAGL Football Academy was also affected to some extent. Subsequent generations of players did not show the quality that Chairman Duc had hoped for when he started building the academy. At many times, recruitment became difficult, making it hard to find "raw gems" to polish into the likes of Tuan Anh, Xuan Truong, etc.
Just when it seemed that HAGL's youth football prowess had faded and was no longer respected as before, Chairman Duc's "youngsters" rose to prominence. In the national U.21 final, they defeated PVF U.21 to bring the trophy back to the mountain town.
The players who have rekindled the flame of football in Pleiku quickly caught the eye of scouts. Striker Nguyen Minh Tam, striker Nguyen Minh Tien, and center-back Dinh Quang Kiet were called up to the national U.20 team by coach Hua Hien Vinh. Goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien, midfielder Nguyen Duc Viet, and striker Nguyen Quoc Viet were called up to the national U.22 team by coach Kim Sang-sik. Based on their performances, this generation of players, following in the footsteps of Cong Phuong, deserves this honor.
Following the success of the HAGL U.21 team, Chairman Duc has another reason to rejoice in football. This talented group of young players will likely be a valuable addition to the HAGL first team, helping the team from the mountainous region to have a strong squad and avoid the last-minute relegation battle they faced last season.
The flame of football has been rekindled with the talented U.21 team, which will be the catalyst for fans to look forward to a HAGL team playing well and attractively in the V-League 2024-2025.
