This year, Ho Chi Minh City has over 151,000 candidates taking the entrance exam for 10th grade in public schools. After the exam results are announced, the Department of Education and Training will continue to announce the cut-off scores for public high schools according to the plan.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training stipulates that the admission score for 10th grade in public high schools for the 2026-2027 school year will be calculated as the sum of the scores of three subjects: Mathematics, Literature, and Foreign Language, plus any bonus or incentive points (if applicable). All subjects are weighted with a coefficient of 1. Exam scores are graded on a 10-point scale, with increments of 0.25 points.
The formula for calculating admission scores for 10th grade is usually as follows:
Admission score = Math score + Literature score + Foreign language score + Bonus/incentive points (if any).
For example, a candidate with a Math score of 5.5, Literature score of 7, English score of 6.25, and a priority point of 1 would have a total admission score of 19.75.
Candidates will only be considered for admission if they take all three subjects and do not receive a score of 0 on any of the exams.
For specialized 10th grade classes, the admission score is calculated by summing the scores of the three regular exam subjects plus the score of the specialized subject multiplied by a factor of 2, as follows:
Admission score for specialized classes = Math score + Literature score + Foreign language score + (Score in the specialized subject × 2).
For integrated Grade 10:
Admission score = Literature score + Foreign Language score + Mathematics score + Average score of the integrated English program (according to Project 5695) in grade 9 of lower secondary school (on a 10-point scale) or the score of the integrated English exam (for candidates in Group 2).
Only candidates who have taken all the required exams, have not violated the regulations during the entrance examination, have achieved the required score, and have scored above 0 points in all exams will be considered for admission.
