Speaking to VietNamNet , a representative from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that Hanoi has now completed the grading of the 2026 10th grade entrance exams.
According to this source, Hanoi is expected to announce the results of the 2026 10th grade entrance exam on June 19th on the Department of Education and Training's portal and the city's primary school enrollment portal. Around this time, the Department of Education and Training will also announce the cut-off scores for high schools.
In principle, students admitted through their first choice (NV1) are not eligible for consideration in their second or third choice (NV2) applications.
Students who are not admitted in the first round of applications will be considered for the second round. However, the admission score for the second round must be at least 0.5 points higher than the admission score for the first round of applications at the school.
Students who are not admitted to their first or second choice will be considered for their third choice. However, the admission score for the third choice must be at least 1 point higher than the admission score for the first choice of the school.
When lowering the admission cutoff score, the Department of Education and Training allows schools to accept students who have applied for the second and third choices and meet the admission requirements.
According to the plan, from June 19th to 25th, educational institutions will receive appeals from students.
No later than June 25th, educational institutions must return the application documents and the "Examination Results Notification for Admission to Grade 10 of High School for the 2026-2027 School Year" to students.
From 1:30 PM on June 25th until the end of June 27th, high schools will conduct enrollment confirmation online and in person. High-quality public high schools will conduct enrollment confirmation in person from 1:30 PM on June 25th until June 27th.

For the 2026-2027 school year, Hanoi has 124,915 candidates registering for their first choice of grade 10 in non-specialized public high schools; the number of second and third choice registrations are 121,792 and 108,358 respectively. Meanwhile, the total enrollment quota allocated to 122 non-specialized public high schools is 79,533 students.
According to statistics compiled by VietNamNet from data provided by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, 87 public high schools have higher admission rates this year than in 2025, indicating a significant increase in competition for entry into these schools.
Among them, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School saw the sharpest increase in the competition ratio compared to the previous year, followed by Yen Hoa High School, Thang Long High School, Tran Hung Dao High School - Thanh Xuan, and Nhan Chinh High School.
In 2026, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will organize the 10th grade entrance exam with three independent subjects: Mathematics, Literature, and Foreign Language. For the Foreign Language exam, candidates can register for one of the following languages: English, French, German, Japanese, or Korean (candidates may register for a foreign language different from the one they are studying at their junior high school).
