Expectations after a new Congress in Lang Son

The spirit of solidarity is manifested in daily life, but it is most noticeable on the National Unity Day (November 18th every year), which has now become a "specialty" and a practical need for the people of Lang Son.

The number of residential areas that organized both the ceremonial and festive parts of the event increased by 11.06%. During the past term, 3,214 collectives and 28,974 exemplary households and individuals were commended and rewarded at the National Unity Day celebration. Many high-ranking leaders of the Party, State, ministries, and central and local departments attended the event, further strengthening the spirit of unity, closeness to the people, and respect for the people, making the relationship between cadres, Party members, especially leaders, and the people increasingly closer.

Thanks to the close relationship between Front Committee officials and the people, these campaigns have become easier than ever. Through campaigns such as "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" and the movement "Lang Son joins the whole country in building new rural areas," the appearance of urban and rural areas has been transformed, and the quality of people's lives has been improved and enhanced.

During the period 2019-2024, the entire province mobilized the people to support the construction of new rural areas with over 500 billion VND; donated over 1 million square meters of land, and contributed nearly 800,000 man-days of labor.

By the end of 2023, the entire province had 98 communes meeting the new rural standards, including 22 advanced new rural communes and 4 model new rural communes; 147 model new rural residential areas; 55 model gardens; and 88 out of 102 particularly disadvantaged villages in border areas meeting the new rural standards. Through these programs, social security has been ensured, the poverty rate (according to the new criteria) of the province has decreased by an average of 3.28% per year; the number of households achieving the "Cultural Family" status increased by 6.19%; and the number of "Cultural Residential Areas" increased by 6.88% compared to the beginning of the term.

Lang Son province has a border stretching 231.74 km, marked by 474 national border markers. To fulfill the task of mobilizing resources to support the construction, management, and protection of the border and border markers, contributing to maintaining national border sovereignty , the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lang Son province, in coordination with the Provincial Border Guard Command, advised the Provincial Party Secretary to sign an open letter launching a special campaign to support the construction of border marker inspection roads and border protection.

As a result, various levels of government, organizations, individuals, and business communities inside and outside the province responded strongly and contributed a large amount of funding and construction materials; ethnic minority people in border areas and officers and soldiers of border guard posts participated in labor days with over 26,000 people.

From 2022 to the present, the total value of socialized cash, provincial budget, construction materials, and labor days, converted into monetary terms, has exceeded 40 billion VND; 283 border marker inspection and protection roads have been built with a total length of over 53 km. The 283rd project is a project to celebrate the provincial congress and will be inaugurated in June 2024...

Building upon the achievements of the past term, and based on the practical realities and requirements of the Fatherland Front's work in the new era, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Lang Son province has set the goal of strengthening the core political role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, promoting the strength of national unity, and contributing to the rapid and sustainable development of Lang Son province.

The Congress identified 3 breakthrough tasks, 10 targets, and 6 action programs for the 15th Congress to discuss and agree upon for implementation in the new term.

To make the Front the center of national unity

Besides commending the achievements of the Fatherland Front at all levels in Lang Son province during the past term, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Hoang Cong Thuy also highly appreciated the Lang Son Provincial Fatherland Front Committee for frankly pointing out the shortcomings and limitations in the Front's work as stated in the Political Report.

Based on the assessment of the actual situation in Lang Son, Vice Chairman Hoang Cong Thuy suggested issues for the Congress to discuss. These included focusing on reforming thinking and working methods, improving the quality and effectiveness of campaigns and patriotic emulation movements with the motto: Think truthfully, speak truthfully, act truthfully, achieve real results, and ensure the people truly benefit.

Vice Chairman Hoang Cong Thuy suggested that Lang Son should pay special attention and dedicate more time, effort, and creativity to implementing two major initiatives: the nationwide emulation movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses launched by the Prime Minister, and the action program "Building self-governing, united, prosperous, and happy residential areas."

Vice Chairman Hoang Cong Thuy noted that Lang Son needs to continue to resolutely and persistently focus more on the training and development of cadres, especially key cadres, full-time Front cadres, and grassroots Front cadres. The goal is to build a team of Front cadres who are truly reputable, dedicated, dynamic, and courageous; who always work with the spirit of "thinking with their minds, observing with their eyes, listening with their ears, walking with their feet, speaking with their mouths, and working with their hands," "respecting the people, being close to the people, understanding the people, learning from the people, and being responsible to the people," so that the Front truly becomes the center of the great national unity.

The Congress democratically elected 75 members to the Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Lang Son province, 15th term, 2024-2029; and unanimously elected the delegation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Lang Son province to attend the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, 2024-2029, consisting of 6 official delegates and 1 alternate delegate.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Tung, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lang Son province, 14th term (2019-2024), was re-elected through consultation to continue serving as Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lang Son province, 15th term (2024-2029).
