The picturesque scene of clouds swirling over grassy hills in Cao Bang, like something out of a movie, captivates tourists.

From May to October, the grassy hills are "dyed" a vibrant green, and the air is fresh and cool. From October to January of the following year, Ba Quang Hill enters the dry grass season, creating a dreamy landscape filled with shades of yellow and orange, allowing visitors to capture impressive photos from any angle.

According to Ms. Bui Thi Hoai, a tourism worker in Ha Lang, recently, sea of ​​clouds frequently appears from 4:30 AM to 6:00 AM. "This season, the weather is sunny and beautiful during the day, the grass is green, and there are occasional sudden showers. Usually, if it rained the night before, clouds will appear early the next morning," Ms. Hoai said. On the grassy hill, there is now a beautiful wooden house built to welcome guests for rest, coffee, lunch... and a few tents for accommodation. Tourists can choose to stay here to watch the clouds at sunrise.

The distance from Thanh Nhat town (Ha Lang district) to the hill is about 6-7km via a concrete road, accessible by motorbike or car. Visitors should note that upon reaching the Khum Din hamlet intersection, 3km from the Vinh Quy commune People's Committee, turn right onto a small concrete road and continue for about 3km to reach Ba Quang grass hill. This section requires a skilled and experienced driver. After parking, visitors can stroll across the grassy slopes to reach the hilltop. From the top of Vinh Quy grass hill, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the rice fields and ethnic minority villages below. The best time to take photos here is early morning at sunrise or in the afternoon from 2 PM to 5 PM, when the sunlight is gentle and the sun is setting.

Mr. Vu Khac Quang, Secretary of Ha Lang District, said that in recent times, Ba Quang grass hill has been an attractive tourist destination for visitors from all over the country. In December 2023, Ha Lang district organized the Ba Quang Grass Hill Festival for the first time, with many unique activities, thereby promoting and introducing the destination, putting Ba Quang grass hill on the tourism map of Cao Bang province. During the Lunar New Year holiday of the Year of the Dragon 2024, tens of thousands of tourists visited, experienced, and immersed themselves in the vast and colorful natural space of Ba Quang grass hill. Ha Lang district is located on the Eastern tourism route - "Experiencing local culture in a fairytale land" of the UNESCO Global Geopark of Cao Bang. The Eastern tourist route focuses on four districts: Tra Linh, Quang Uyen, Trung Khanh, and Ha Lang, offering unique local cultural experiences of the Tay, Nung, Mong, Dao, and San Chay ethnic groups through traditional craft villages, folk festivals, and flavorful mountain cuisine such as sticky rice with wild berries, seven-flavor grilled meat, sour pho, Trung Khanh chestnuts, and Cao Bang rice rolls.

After experiencing the Ba Quang grass hill, tourists can also visit other places in Ha Lang such as Nguom Bang cave, Bat cave... Towards the end of the year, tourists can admire the wild sunflower hill (Thai Duc commune), see the poinsettia flower (Quang Long commune) or go camping and picnicking on Vinh Quy pine hill (in Khau Lua hamlet) not far away. Recognizing the potential and strengths to develop tourism into a key economic sector, contributing to the shift in labor and economic structure, Ha Lang district is focusing on implementing comprehensive solutions and opening its doors to welcome investors. The district is implementing activities to promote tourism images on social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Zalo, and the district's official website. To achieve the breakthrough in tourism development for the 2021-2025 period, Ha Lang district has identified a focus on promoting tourism in a professional, modern, and targeted manner, ensuring quality and effectiveness while preserving the natural environment and cultural identity of the locality; boosting on-site promotion through tourists; implementing preferential policies to attract investors from within and outside the province; and continuing to digitize the district's tourist destinations to provide unique and selective images and information about tourist areas and attractions, building the image and brand for Ha Lang tourism. Emphasis should be placed on close cooperation between management agencies, tourism businesses, and tourist areas and destinations to develop products, increase attractiveness, and best meet the needs of tourists.
