Launching the 2024 Vietnam Civil Servants Football Tournament

On August 6 in Hanoi, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and Tuoi Tre newspaper signed a Plan to organize the 2024 Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu said that the 2024 Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament is a playground for workers, civil servants, and laborers. The tournament helps improve health, solidarity, exchange, and share experiences in production and labor, contributing to the mass sports movement.

Vice President Ngo Duy Hieu added that in the first year of organization (2023), the tournament was a great success, bringing meaningful spiritual food to the lives of workers. It can be affirmed that this is the most prestigious and practical football tournament for workers, civil servants, and laborers nationwide.

According to the Organizing Committee, this year's award has expanded its scope to include male civil servants, public employees, and workers of Vietnamese nationality, working in enterprises and units of economic sectors with trade unions, not just workers.

It is known that the 2024 Vietnam Football Championship for Workers and Civil Servants will be divided into 4 regional qualifying groups from North to South from September 2024. Each group is expected to have 16 teams, divided into 4 groups, each group has 4 teams. The teams will compete in a round robin to calculate rankings. At the end of the group stage, the 4 group winners and 4 group runners-up will qualify for the quarterfinals, semi-finals and finals. The 4 teams that qualify for the regional qualifying semi-finals will be the 4 teams that will participate in the national finals.

The final round is scheduled to take place in Hanoi in October 2024 with 16 teams divided into 4 groups of 4 teams each. The teams will compete in a round robin to determine rankings. At the end of the group stage, the 4 group winners and 4 group runners-up will advance to the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals.

The tournament also increased the prize money for participating teams. Specifically, in each regional qualifying round, the first-place team will receive 50 million VND, the second-place team will receive 30 million VND and the third-place team will receive 20 million VND. In the national final round, the champion team will receive 150 million VND, the second-place team will receive 100 million VND and the third-place team will receive 60 million VND. In addition, there are other prizes such as: Best Player, Best Goalkeeper, Fair-play Team, Most Impressive Fan Team, etc. The total prize money of the tournament is up to 930 million VND.
