Dong Mo reservoir releases floodwaters, posing a risk of flooding to many localities.

Monitoring data shows that the water level of Dong Mo irrigation reservoir (Son Tay town) this morning was 21.52m; 4 sluice gates are overflowing freely with a water column height of 0.02m at the top of the spillway.

Following information from the meteorological and hydrological agency predicting that in August 2024, the Northern region may experience several periods of moderate to heavy rainfall over a wide area, to ensure the safety of dams and reservoirs downstream, the Song Tich Irrigation Development Investment Company Limited is operating 4 spillway gates at Ngai Son to release floodwaters from Dong Mo reservoir.

The operation of the four spillway gates at Ngai Son on Dong Mo reservoir began at 8:00 AM on August 8th, with each gate open to 15-20cm; the expected discharge rate is approximately 36-48m3/s.

Releasing water from the Dong Mo irrigation reservoir will increase the risk of flooding in riverside and low-lying areas, affecting agricultural production, aquaculture, and the lives of people living along both banks of the Tich River, including the communes and wards of Kim Son, Son Dong, Co Dong, Son Loc, Ngo Quyen, Quang Trung, Phu Thinh, Trung Son Tram, Duong Lam (Son Tay town) and the communes on both banks of the Tich River in the districts of Phuc Tho, Thach That, Quoc Oai, and Chuong My.

A representative from the Song Tich Irrigation Development Investment Company Limited stated that before opening the floodgates, the company had sent official documents to the People's Committees of the districts and towns of Son Tay, Phuc Tho, Thach That, Quoc Oai, and Chuong My.
