TPO - Binh Duong province has spent nearly VND1,400 billion to upgrade the 12.7km National Highway 13 (from the Binh Duong welcome gate bordering Ho Chi Minh City to Thu Dau Mot City). After more than 2 years, the construction unit is still "waiting" because the site has not been cleared and the power grid relocation has not been completed.

On August 10, Tien Phong newspaper reporters noted that the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 13 in Binh Duong province has temporarily stopped construction because the site clearance work has not been completed. In addition, the work of relocating the power grid has not been completed.

Previously, in April 2022, the People's Committee of Binh Duong province officially started the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 13 from 6 to 8 lanes, 12.7 km long. The project has an investment capital of nearly 1,400 billion VND.

Regarding the site clearance for the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 13, according to the report of the Department of Transport of Binh Duong province, by the end of July 2024, the section passing through Thu Dau Mot city (750m long) had been 100% handed over.

Meanwhile, in Thuan An city, the section from Vinh Phu gate to Ong Bo bridge (4.9km) has handed over over 53% of the land. The rest is expected to be handed over in the third quarter of 2024 or may have to be extended to the fourth quarter of 2024.

The second section from Ong Bo bridge to Huu Nghi intersection (2.9km long) has so far handed over 74% of the site, the remaining is expected to be handed over in the third quarter of 2024.

The third section passing through Thuan An city (4.15km long) has handed over 88% of the land, the rest is expected to be handed over this quarter.

In addition, the relocation of the power grid infrastructure along Highway 13 is currently underway, moving power from Ong Bo Bridge to Le Hong Phong intersection.

Thuan An City Construction Investment Project Management Board said that since the beginning of August 2024, the construction of the power grid relocation section 3 from Huu Nghi Street to Le Hong Phong intersection has been implemented.

The construction unit relocated 64 electric poles with a length of 1,960m. Due to the large volume, to complete the work, the construction unit gathered more than 175 workers and mobilized 20 cranes.

According to the plan, the time to relocate the entire power grid of the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 13 through Thuan An city is 150 days. The power grid relocation is expected to be completed in October.

In order to ensure the progress of the power grid relocation for the project according to the 150-day plan, the authorities are urgently clearing the remaining households.

To ensure the safety of people, vehicles and construction workers, during the process of relocating the power grid, the People's Committee of Thuan An City coordinated with the Traffic Police Department of Binh Duong Province to support traffic regulation during the power outage. Becamex IDC Corporation provided generators to ensure traffic safety.
