On August 1st, a working session and visitor opening ceremony took place at the Hai Van Pass historical site between departments and agencies of Thua Thien Hue province and Da Nang city.
Hai Van Pass is located on the summit of Hai Van Pass, within the administrative boundaries of Lang Co town, Phu Loc district, Thua Thien Hue province and Hoa Hiep Bac ward, Lien Chieu district, Da Nang city. It is a military fortress guarding the summit of Hai Van Pass, a structure rich in cultural and historical value, and also a famous scenic spot, contributing to the tourism development of both localities.

On April 14, 2017, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism classified Hai Van Pass as a National Monument according to Decision No. 1531/QD-BVHTTDL. On December 19, 2021, the Hue Imperial City Relics Conservation Center, in coordination with the Da Nang City Department of Culture and Sports, held a groundbreaking ceremony for the project to preserve, restore, and promote the value of Hai Van Pass. The total investment for the project is over 42 billion VND, with Da Nang City and Thua Thien Hue province each contributing 50%. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2023.
On July 25, 2023, the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province issued Decision No. 1779/QD-UBND Thua Thien Hue, approving the adjustment of the project for the preservation, restoration, and promotion of the value of Hai Van Pass historical site.

Mr. Phan Van Tuan, Deputy Director of the Hue Ancient Citadel Relics Conservation Center, said that the restoration of Hai Van Pass ensures the restoration and repair of the original structures of the relic. The materials used here are mainly bricks and stones, so the unit has actively sought out materials, and all other elements comply with regulations and principles for the preservation and restoration of relics.
In the initial phase of serving tourists, Hai Van Pass will offer free admission to locals and visitors until a suitable ticket price list is established.
