On August 12, speaking with Dan Tri reporter, a leader of the Department of Education and Training (DOET) of Hong Dan district (Bac Lieu province) confirmed that the Department had requested the People's Committee of this district to handle the responsibility of Mr. HVT, Principal of VP Primary School.

Previously, on July 18, the Department of Education and Training of Hong Dan district received information reflecting that staff and teachers of VP Primary School organized gambling in the school library, affecting students' ability to read books.

According to verification by the Department of Education and Training of Hong Dan district, the incident of school officials, teachers, and staff playing cards in the library (next to the teachers' reading room) is real and has happened many times.

Playing cards is often done during recess, after professional activities, after school labor events, by staff, teachers, and employees spontaneously inviting each other to play.

The loser would pay for drinks or cigarettes, there was no gambling. However, the principal knew about this but did not take timely measures to prevent it.

The Hong Dan District Department of Education and Training said that gambling in schools, although not gambling for money, has happened many times, causing negative public opinion among managers, teachers, and staff; affecting the order, discipline, and reputation of the school; and affecting the image of teachers in front of students.

The Department of Education and Training of Hong Dan district assessed that the main responsibility for this incident lies with Mr. HVT, the school principal.

"The Department only proposed to handle according to regulations, but how to handle the principal is up to the District People's Committee," the leader of the Department of Education and Training of Hong Dan district informed and said that they are still waiting for the district's decision.
