The People's Committee of Phu Xuyen district ( Hanoi ) has forcibly recovered land from 15 households in Phu Bat village (Hong Minh commune) with a total area of ​​1,930m2 to implement the construction of the Southern axis road project since this morning (August 13).

District and commune authorities protected the area, cleared crops, and leveled the ground due to non-compliance by households.

Phu Xuyen District People's Committee then handed over the site to the investor to construct the project section adjacent to the bridge over Van Dinh canal.

Previously, the People's Committee of Phu Xuyen district and the People's Committee of Hong Minh commune organized many propaganda, mobilization and dialogue sessions to help households understand the nature of the incident, coordinate with units to voluntarily clear crops as well as assets on the land to hand over the construction site for the project. However, 15 related households did not comply.

"The 1,930m2 area of ​​land stretching 150m is the last location within the 8.9km range of the project passing through Phu Xuyen. Over the past 6 years, with 40 meetings, propaganda, mobilization, and dialogue, the land has not been cleared yet.

Therefore, the District People's Committee has forcibly recovered the land to hand over the site to the investor to construct the project in accordance with the law," said the leader of the Phu Xuyen District People's Committee.

The investment project to build the southern axis road of Hanoi (formerly known as the investment project to build the southern axis road of Ha Tay province) is over 41km long, passing through Ha Dong, Thanh Oai, Ung Hoa and Phu Xuyen districts.

The project has a total investment of 6,076 billion VND, implemented in the form of BT (construction - transfer contract), starting construction in 2008.

After 16 years of implementation, the project section through Ha Dong district, Thanh Oai district and Ung Hoa has been basically completed with a cross-section of 40m and 6 lanes.

The remaining section passing through the communes of Hoang Long, Tri Trung, Phu Tuc, Chau Can of Phu Xuyen district is still under slow construction. The section passing through Hong Minh commune has been "stuck in place" for many years due to land clearance problems.
