The People's Committee of Phu Xuyen district ( Hanoi ) is proceeding with the forced land reclamation from 15 households in Phu Bat village (Hong Minh commune) with a total area of 1,930m2 to implement the construction of the Southern arterial road project starting this morning (August 13).

Authorities are carrying out forced land reclamation for a transportation project.
Authorities from the district and commune are securing the area, clearing vegetation, and leveling the ground because some households have refused to comply with the regulations.
The People's Committee of Phu Xuyen district subsequently handed over the land to the investor to construct the section bordering the bridge over the Van Dinh canal.
Previously, the People's Committee of Phu Xuyen District and the People's Committee of Hong Minh Commune had organized numerous awareness campaigns, mobilization efforts, and dialogues to help households understand the nature of the situation and cooperate with relevant units to voluntarily clear crops and assets on the land to hand over the site for project construction. However, 15 households involved did not comply.
"The 1,930m2 plot of land, stretching 150m, is the final location within the 8.9km radius of the project passing through Phu Xuyen. Over the past six years, despite 40 meetings, awareness campaigns, and dialogues, land clearance has not been possible."
Therefore, the People's Committee of Phu Xuyen district proceeded with the forced land reclamation to hand over the site to the investor for project construction in accordance with the law," a leader of the Phu Xuyen District People's Committee said.

The construction project has been unfinished for many years.
The Hanoi Southern arterial road construction project (formerly known as the Ha Tay Province Southern arterial road construction project) spans over 41km, passing through Ha Dong district and Thanh Oai, Ung Hoa, and Phu Xuyen districts.
The project has a total investment of 6,076 billion VND, implemented under the BT (build-transfer) contract model, and construction began in 2008.
After 16 years of implementation, the section of the project passing through Ha Dong district, Thanh Oai district, and Ung Hoa district has been basically completed with a 40m wide cross-section and 6 lanes.
The remaining section, passing through the communes of Hoang Long, Tri Trung, Phu Tuc, and Chau Can in Phu Xuyen district, is still under slow construction. The section through Hong Minh commune, in particular, has been stalled for many years due to land clearance issues.
