*Pig price in the Northern region:

In the Northern pig market, the purchase price is relatively stable.

Except for Tuyen Quang , which increased slightly by VND 1,000/kg, raising the price of live pigs to the highest level of VND 66,000/kg, the remaining provinces and cities in the region continued to keep prices stable in this morning's trading session.

Today's live pig price in the North is around 64,000 - 66,000 VND/kg.

According to the Hai Phong Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, the cause partly comes from farmers becoming complacent, not strictly following biosafety farming procedures, and not proactively vaccinating their livestock.

Along with that, the results of monitoring the circulation of the African swine fever virus in 2023 at some pork and pork product markets in the city detected 3.96% of positive samples. This shows that there is always a potential risk of disease outbreak and spread in the area.

Faced with this situation, in addition to urgent measures to block and control the epidemic, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hai Phong has sent a document to localities, households and livestock facilities regarding the use of vaccines against African swine fever. However, up to now, the rate of pigs vaccinated against African swine fever in the city is still very modest, only more than 7,000 pigs, accounting for nearly 6% of the total pig herd, according to the Agriculture newspaper.

*Pig price in the Central Highlands region

The Central Highlands region witnessed a scattered decrease in live pig prices of 1,000 VND/kg.

Specifically, after adjustment, the price of live pigs in Dak Lak, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces decreased to 61,000 VND/kg, 62,000 VND/kg and 63,000 VND/kg, respectively.

Traders in the remaining areas purchased live pigs at prices unchanged compared to the same trading time yesterday morning.

Currently, the price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions is around 61,000 - 64,000 VND/kg.

*Pig price in the Southern region

In the Southern region, pig prices also decreased in many places.

After a slight decrease of 1,000 VND/kg, traders in areas including Vinh Long, Ben Tre, Ho Chi Minh City, Kien Giang, Soc Trang, Tay Ninh and An Giang purchased live pigs at prices ranging from 61,000 - 64,000 VND/kg, depending on the area.

Pig prices in other localities have no new fluctuations this morning.

Currently, the purchase price in the South fluctuates between 61,000 - 64,000 VND/kg.

According to statistics from the Import-Export Department, while pork prices in the international market tended to increase again in July, domestic pork prices decreased slightly.
