According to Mr. Co, the expansion of examination hours at Bach Mai Hospital aims to meet the people's medical examination and treatment needs, contributing to reducing overload and improving the quality of medical services. From 5-9 pm today, patients can arrange their work to come for examination.
Expanding examination hours to meet people's needs
According to the leader of Bach Mai Hospital, every day the hospital receives 7,000 - 8,000 patients for examination, some days up to 10,000 people.

When visiting Bach Mai Hospital, you can make an appointment and choose the doctor you want.
The general mentality of people going to the doctor is to go early in the morning on the first days of the week and "see a doctor early, get the results early, finish early". Seeing a doctor in the morning, at the beginning of the week is also to make it convenient to fast if some procedures need to be done. Due to that mentality, at Bach Mai Hospital, the mornings of the first days of the week are often crowded with people coming to see a doctor. Many people from the provinces arrive at the hospital at 3-4 am.
Mr. Co said that by expanding the examination time from 5-9pm (Wednesday to Friday every week), people can easily arrange their work to conveniently come for examination. At the same time, the hospital still maintains the reception time from 6am.
"Examining in the afternoon, after hours, also helps people have more options for examination times and choose doctors according to their needs," Mr. Co shared.
Increase examination hours, no increase in service prices
The Director of Bach Mai Hospital also confirmed that after-hours examinations still include all specialties and clinical tests and imaging as during office hours, but the cost remains unchanged.

The Director of Bach Mai Hospital said that he and the hospital's doctors and medical staff had registered to participate in medical examinations until 9:00 p.m., according to the assigned schedule.
Mr. Co also committed that the hospital will arrange all the clinics and specialties as during working hours including: endocrinology, digestive, musculoskeletal, neurological, respiratory, renal - urinary, cardiovascular, infectious, hematology, intensive care, obstetrics, pediatrics, ENT, maxillofacial, ophthalmology, dermatology, etc. All the specialized clinics are arranged in the same building K1 (Giai Phong street); the X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, and testing rooms are arranged in the same building and have staff from the Social Work Department to guide.
Bach Mai Hospital estimates that for patients who have blood tests, X-rays, ultrasounds, etc., the results will be available after only 2 hours. In the case of only regular ultrasounds and X-rays, the results will be available after only 1 hour for the doctor to make a conclusion and prescribe medication.
Appropriate shift arrangement
"Through surveys and reality at the hospital, doctors and nurses still work overtime at clinics and private medical facilities after work hours to earn extra income. Therefore, implementing overtime work right at the hospital will create favorable conditions for medical staff to not have to travel during rush hour, still examine and perform surgery for people right at the hospital, and at the same time have more legitimate income", Dr. Do Van Thanh, Head of the Organization and Personnel Department of Bach Mai Hospital, shared more.
With the expansion of examination hours, doctors and nurses of Bach Mai Hospital who wish to work overtime will register voluntarily. The hospital has a plan to assign personnel to appropriate shifts to ensure health, balance between work and family, and have time to rest and restore labor.
According to Mr. Thanh, the Board of Directors of Bach Mai Hospital committed that the revenue from the evening examination period, after deducting financial obligations to the state and the hospital, will be converted into income for medical examination and treatment workers. This is a legitimate and legal additional income for all workers who voluntarily participate.
According to the director of Bach Mai Hospital, the hospital has conducted bidding procedures to purchase medical equipment and machinery to serve professional work with a series of modern medical equipment systems (including 4 magnetic resonance imaging machines, 3 multi-slice computed tomography machines, 19 digestive endoscopy systems, 7 endoscopic surgery systems...) currently in use, ensuring service to patients.
"With the addition of four MRI machines, the hospital now has seven MRI machines, along with assigned staff. Patients can basically get an MRI scan the same day without having to wait," said the Director of Bach Mai Hospital.
From 6:00 - 21:00 (Monday to Friday) and from 6:30 - 16:30 (Saturday and Sunday), patients will have many options for medical examination at Bach Mai Hospital.
