On the export market, Vietnamese rice export prices remained unchanged compared to yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), 100% broken rice was priced at US$448/ton; standard 5% broken rice remained stable at US$559/ton; and 25% broken rice was priced at US$535/ton.
According to forecasts, Vietnam's rice exports are expected to improve towards the end of 2024 as import demand from traditional customers increases. However, India's consideration of easing its rice export policies and the risk of Vietnam not having enough rice for export are considered factors that could cause significant fluctuations in the rice export market at the end of 2024…
Thailand's Ministry of Commerce said the country expects to export 8.2 million tons of rice this year, up from its previous forecast of 7.5 million tons, thanks to demand from major markets, higher projected yields, and a weaker domestic currency.
In the first half of 2024, Thailand exported 5.08 million tons of rice, a 25% increase compared to the previous year. Rice exports were supported by demand from key markets, including Indonesia and the Philippines, and a weak baht.
