The participants in the competition are circus artists currently working at public and private circus art units (units with legal status and with at least 12 months of continuous activity in the field of circus performance art at the time of participation in the competition); and students currently studying at circus art training institutions nationwide.
This year's Circus Talent Competition features nearly 100 artists and performers from four organizations: the Southern Arts Theatre, the Vietnam Circus and Variety Arts College, the Hanoi Circus and Variety Arts Theatre, and the Vietnam Circus Federation, presenting 20 performances.
Categories eligible for registration in the competition include: acrobatics, juggling, balancing, magic, comedy, and animal training.
Requirements for entries: Each entry must be performed twice and must showcase the fundamental characteristics of the circus art form. Newly staged, experimental acts with unique and innovative creativity are encouraged. Costumes, props, and music must complement the content of the act and the performers' acting skills. The act must be complete and have a stage performance duration of 7 to 12 minutes. Participating units and individuals should select acts that provide ample material for performers to showcase their talent and skillful techniques, demonstrating a high level of professionalism in their performance style and technique, leaving a deep impression and positive emotions on the audience.
Performances that have won awards in previous Circus Competitions and Festivals organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism are only eligible to compete if one of the creative components, such as the choreographer, trainer, or performer, has not won a Gold Medal or two Silver Medals; the Jury will only review and score the creative component that has not won an award.
As part of the National Circus Talent Competition – 2024, there will also be a street circus parade featuring spectacular performances by professional artists along Tran Nhan Tong pedestrian street and around Thien Quang Lake.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will award prizes such as: First and Second Prizes for performances that highlight the creative contributions of the director, trainer, and actors, meeting the criteria in the Judging Regulations. An outstanding award will be given to one director and one trainer for their exceptional creativity in the performances participating in the competition.
