The aforementioned diving instructor is believed to be a member of the group responsible for the Nord Stream gas pipeline explosion.
Newspapers SZ and Die Zeit, along with television station ARD, citing anonymous sources, reported that German investigators believe the Ukrainian man, reportedly living in Poland, was one of the divers who planted explosive devices on the pipeline running from Russia to Berlin under the Baltic Sea in September 2022.
News reports indicate that Berlin has requested Warsaw to arrest the man by June 2024.
Neither the Polish nor the German National Prosecutor's Office has commented on the matter.
