Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, gave directives on the tasks schools need to prepare students for the upcoming high school graduation exam and the 10th grade entrance exam.
On August 15th, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training held a meeting to summarize the 2023-2024 school year and implement tasks for the 2024-2025 school year. This included discussions on improving the quality of education and preparing graduating students for the high school graduation exam and the 10th grade entrance exam in 2025.
Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training has set forth the task for the new school year to continue strengthening the capacity of management staff and teachers to improve the quality of education. Emphasis will be placed on maintaining and improving the quality of students in the final year of schooling, and promoting the role of teachers and education management staff in some districts and counties to improve the quality of teaching and learning in order to achieve the overall progress of the city.
Continue implementing the 2018 General Education Program for all grade levels, consolidating and improving the quality of secondary education. Focus on implementation for grades 9 and 12 to ensure quality, and prepare well for the first cohort to take the high school graduation exam and the grade 10 entrance exam under the new curriculum.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training is expected to hold the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year in June 2025. The Department will continue to steadfastly implement the reform of exam questions to assess students' competencies, more clearly reflecting the direction of the 2018 General Education Program.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training also plans to release sample exam questions for each subject in the 10th grade entrance exam in October 2024. The level of differentiation and innovation in the exam questions for each subject will be calculated and adjusted by the department to suit teaching and learning methods that assess students' competencies – closely adhering to the goals of the 2018 General Education Program at the lower secondary level.
The release of sample exam questions for each subject in the 10th grade will help teachers and schools to orient themselves in innovating teaching and assessment methods, closely following the direction of evaluating students' competencies.
