The project to upgrade and expand Ca Mau Airport is implemented in Ward 6 and Tan Thanh Ward, Ca Mau City, affecting 610 households and individuals (of which, 521 households own land and 89 households build houses and raise fish on other people's land) and 3 organizations, with an area of ​​about 105.85 hectares. Specifically, the affected households in Ward 6 include 390 households and individuals (including 323 households own land and 67 households build houses and raise fish on other people's land) and 3 organizations, with an area of ​​50.34 hectares; in Tan Thanh Ward, there are 220 households and individuals, with an area of ​​55.51 hectares (including 198 households own land (of which 6 households are registered on many plots of land and 22 households build houses, raise fish and grow rice on other people's land).

“The total land area to be recovered is more than 105 hectares, with compensation for recovered land being more than 363.8 billion VND. Up to now, a total of 240 households whose land is affected by the project have received compensation, with a total amount of nearly 173.4 billion VND, accounting for about 47.7% of the total compensation payment; the remaining households will continue to receive compensation, and the recovered area will increase rapidly in the following days, promptly handing over to the investor,” Mr. Tang Vu Em informed.

Regarding the resettlement of people affected after land acquisition, Mr. Huynh Van Minh, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ca Mau City, said that through the preliminary review of the project, there are 138 households and individuals with houses, constructions, and architectural structures (of which, 28 households and individuals have houses and constructions on residential land; 110 households and individuals have houses and constructions on agricultural land); the number of plots with an area from 1,000 m2 to less than 2,000 m2 is about 116 plots; the number of plots with an area from 2,000 m2 to less than 3,000 m2 is about 48 plots; the number of plots with an area from 3,000 m2 or more is about 104 plots.

According to Mr. Minh, the total number of plots planned for arrangement is about 558. Mr. Pham Thanh Lam, Director of Ca Mau Airport (representative of the investor), said that after receiving the handover of the site, Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) will implement the next steps of the project, such as mine clearance, construction of a new runway measuring 2,400 m x 45 m, ensuring the operation of A320, A321 and equivalent aircraft; construction of a taxiway connecting the runway with the aircraft parking area measuring 128 m x 15 m; construction of an aircraft parking area in the southern area measuring 182 m x 112.5 m, meeting the operation of 3 parking positions for A320, A321 and equivalent; renovation and expansion of the existing passenger terminal to a capacity of 500,000 passengers/year; Construct a number of other synchronous auxiliary works such as the road connecting the new aircraft parking lot to the passenger terminal, off-campus parking lot, fire emergency station, security fence system, and synchronous belt road.


The project to upgrade and expand Ca Mau Airport is invested by Vietnam Airports Corporation - JSC (ACV) with a total capital of about 2,400 billion VND, using 100% of ACV's equity, to ensure the operation of A320, A321 aircraft and equivalent; create momentum for economic, cultural and social development, while ensuring security and defense of Ca Mau province and the region.
